Post Unbanned Cheaters' Accounts

about 11 years

When players who were banned for cheating are let back into either of the competition-running lobbies, they should undergo a probationary period during which they lose privacy rights for all accounts, be they linked alts or clean-slate mains. The mods can set up a thread with a list of all accounts held by recently unbanned cheaters and either (a) consistently monitor users who have made the list or (b) install a simple account approval process whereby failure to inform the mods of newly registered accounts constitutes a violation of the rules.

This might be worth a go for any game-related ban, not just cheating, but that would probably involve a lot more maintenance.

so why do you care about knowing them peta?

So that I know what I'm getting into when I join a game and so that I can dodge them if I feel like taking a game especially seriously.

no, riot and I caught him.

I'm inclined to believe Connor's cheated. If so the fundamental truth is confirmed. The loudest to accuse is actually a violator.

an in-game cheater mark will be an insta-dodge, though, for anyone, not just caremad people like us

Who here is arguing for an in-game cheater mark?

not u, it seems. i'm not gonna go check now though

Also, if there's someone cheating, they'll get caught. Stop exaggerating how awful it is to play with a former cheater.

you grossly underestimate the amount of unaccounted for cheating on this website

How much of which is done by recently unbanned former cheaters? Not much? Didn't think so.

The 'random throwaway alt' that you're not dodging because it's not a recently unbanned cheater is just or more likely to be abc.

also, the majority of recent cheater-catchings have been by the community as opposed to the moderators therefore the information should be publicly visible.

implying that what happened with howl wouldnt happen to one of these cheaters

In the history of this stupid website there has not been a single cheater, including all the notorious cheaters, who has been unable to enjoy games on a publicly known account upon returning from his/her ban. Literally zero cheaters have undergone this horrible experience that you're arguing against. None.

i doubt many cheaters are caught.

so why do you need to have a public list if youre not looking for people to avoid or looking to shame them/continue to bring it up?
to watch over their every move?

So that people like peta can dodge them, which isn't entirely unreasonable.
deletedabout 11 years
no it wouldn't. surprisingly few people care about cheating. they care more about ISPing and perceived GTing than cheating.

1 account allowed, have to inform mods if they're running for close surveillance of each game.

A fair amount of games are ruined until cheaters are caught again though.

great way to show you've reformed when no one will play with you

Yeah this is actually a good point. The community would have to actively ease some of the stigma towards cheaters, which I don't see happening easily. It's possible though (also possible it could backfire horribly).

No, it's not a good point. There is an abundance of plenty of well-known cheaters who have been able to play games without much hassle. Kerry's making a statistical argument and she's basing it on false statistics that she made up in her head.

Eh, I suppose. But you have to assume that most people don't already check the forums/reports for cheaters. I'm saying it could go either way, but I'm still for the basic idea.

people avoid petri

A lot of people play with him, too. Most people didn't avoid you, Togepi, Kelly, Cory, Kennedy; the list goes on ad infinitum. Even abc was able to play games without hassle when he was unbanned.
