Hello everyone! I would like to ask the people who are interested in this event to participate and contribute as much as possible.
In order for 2 new roles to be added to em, the community has to work together to refine the ideas that are going to be mentioned below. We have to collectively select 2 of the best ideas and make sure their version is the best one possible. The next step would be to come up with some sort of artwork for the selected roles. Lucid mentioned something about rewarding the users behind the artwork that would get selected in the end for those 2 roles.
Jack the Ripper (originally Hypocrite)
Jack the Ripper hates anyone who kills.
Jack the Ripper only wins when the game ends and all murderers are dead.
If Jack the Ripper receives a gun or knife and kills someone with it, he will not consider himself a murderer.
To Jack the Ripper, murderers are killing roles or any other player that has successfully eliminated someone else (shot, stabbed, blown up, etc.)
If a player survives one of these actions, Jack the Ripper will not consider the attacker a murderer.
(~Jennings)
Cat Lady
Chooses one player every night. The player is instantly alerted that a cat is at their door. They have two options: Kill the cat, and let it go. If you kill the cat, you are roleblocked and the Cat Lady doesn't know who was visited. If you let it go, the Cat Lady learns your role.
Sided with the mafia. (~Her)
Robinhood
Visits two people, taking all items from the first and giving them to the second (cannot visit self either way)
Action fails if trying to steal from a mafia
Sided with the village (~Torreador)
Vice President
If the president dies, takes their place
All townies immediately receive a message of their new president
Attends mafia meetings, and makes them anonymous
Cannot win if they are the vice president (~Alyssa)
Gossiper
Chooses one person every night.
Will see some whispers this person receives/makes.
If lynched at the end of the game, the last mafia can guess who the Seer is for autowin.
If the Seer dies, they will appear as a random (non-mafia) role in the setup and their will will always be blank. If dead, the mafia can still attempt a guess to the Seer's identity at the end of the game.
If there are multiple Seers in a game, only one Seer will know the mafia at any given time.
If there are two mafias and multiple Seers, the knowledge of the mafias will be split between them.
Sided with the village. (~Shwartz99)
Whistleblower
Once per game can force someone to vote someone else. Vote cannot be OT'D if it is a hammer. Sided with maf
(Will create more tension in selfing/hammering based setups (~Moldyches)
Soldier
If they are the last man standing against a single mafia or third party, the village wins.
Sided with the village. (~XFire)
PowerTown
Each night chooses a power role from the options provided to him. (the mods should determine the list)
Night meeting goes accordingly
Sided with the village
PowerMafia
Each night chooses a mafia role from the list.
Night meeting goes accordingly
Sided with the mafia
What is your favorite role mentioned in this thread?
Personally, I'm not a fan of calling it Clown, Lucas. I, for one, am sick of the negative portrayal of clowns in the media, and associating clowns with the mafia is a bridge too far. I love that icon, though.
Alyssa's idea is epic and multilayers the game, by the way.
Mutineer: -Can kill one person per. night, separate from the mafia meeting -Cannot vote within the Mafia meeting -Appears as Mafia on all reports -Attends Mafia meetings, and makes them anonymous -Wins if alive alone or the final two, and the other remaining alive is not a mafia
(3rd party, I think this is a neat idea since it'd be someone who is directly a part of the mafia but is openly defying them, and is an enemy of both the town and mafia. Also wouldn't count towards mafia majority.
Would be fun because unlike usurper/mm, mafia can win while mutineer is alive, just that mutineer will actively go against them and wants them all dead.)
after clown, gun enthusiast, and vengeful spirit, i'll probably draw the line there for new roles (unless if ghost and poltergiest [roles that roleblock living when dead] make it in before tomorrow)
yea, i can just make it so clown doesn't attend mafia meetings?
What about mafia not knowing the Clown's indentity, outside of spy contacting the role ofc, and instead of showing Player X is part of the mafia, you show that a Clown is part of the mafia.
Vengeful Spirit -If killed, the spirit can choose one person every night. -If that person was their killer, they'll get attacked. -Wins if they successfully kill their killer. -Sided with the third party.
i think i'm getting slightly better with pixel art so i tried to make a good looking icon but i'm not sure if it worked:
I think it would also be really cool to add what I would call "passive" third party roles
A lot of games should be centered around town and mafia wins when they can end by third party roles. The two roles in particular that I am thinking of are Fool and Lyncher.
You should make it so that the games continue if the Fool is lynched or the Lynching target has. That way, more people have the opportunity to play toward their win condition.
I understand that sometimes those roles' current mechanics are vital to the gameplay of some setups, but if there was a way to toggle "ends game" versus not, then it would be more fun to be 3rd parties or play against them. They would still count toward player counts and wasting mislynches and stuff
i could also introduce it as a game mode, in which case, until the game formally ends with a mafia or town win, will keep continuing. not sure what to do with games where there are no mafia or town though

Shotgunner - Starts with a gun - Target selected dies, but anyone who visited them at night is also killed due to the wide spread of pellets - Sided with the village
ok, just thought of another role that may be fun. something like fool but for graveyard, their goal is to be picked in graveyard to be exorcised in order to win
nope. The idea of losing to someone who isn't even alive sounds wrong.
Oh hey speaking of jotto There’s been an issue where people are randomly kicked out of the game and have to rejoin, and when they return their cheat sheet is gone and having to fill it out again isn’t fun
i thought lucid fixed that
Happened to me again Monday night
yah i havent added that feature yet but i will! still need to build wordsmith too

Wouldn't that put a lot of pressure on Exorcist and Ghosthunter if one wrong move could end the game? Or would the game not end when this dead fool get's sent to Underworld?
