if we are gonna talk about reclamation then you have to realize the word that has been used hatefully is the one with the hard-R, the one with an -A is not used by people who want to slur or offend. faggöt is undoubtedly the word that has been used to offend and is still used, and is the same one that is reclaimed. you can talk about reclamation with the hard-R, but without the hard -R, that's not reclamation, that's just not wanting it used.
I don’t even know where to begin with this post lol
The word ngga was reclaimed by black people, but as a term of endearment AMONG blacks. It’s sorta like black people doing the head nod when we see each other in public, if a random white guy nodded his head at me id be like “wtf”
There is no reason to argue semantics here; the word was clearly an offspring of ngger, which was used hatefully.

something one says ignorantly with 0 malice and 0 hate doesn't suddenly become something said with hateful intention just because they don't know your heritage/background. that's such an asinine view that frankly i think you're trolling.
im trying to say why one may not be inclined to place an emphasis on the intention, its not your heritage, and on that sense intention doesnt really matter because no matter your intention it will never be your heritage, you either share it or dont
you act as if someone not having the same understanding as you suddenly makes them malicious.

Forrest would you consider yourself an individualist?
anyone can be offended about anything and anyone can have their own opnions and feelings on anything and its generally good/empathetic to try to understand and work around other peoples opinions/feelings yada yada yada
its not that hard to understand its the same of when a jewish comedian does an old holocaust joke vs non jew doing it there is a whole history behind that cultural production that one shares with the author and another doesnt
me and you are not on the same wavelength. i know what you're saying, and agree, and think they have a right to be offended. i said this. i don't understand why we can't place an emphasis on intention rather than the words.

Jeff I read your post thinking hard-R mean the other hard-R word and had to take out a pen and paper to figure out what you were saying. Then it dawned on me.
@forrest i think any situation where someone pretends to be part of a minority group they have nothing to do with is wrong and is evidence of privilege. anyone who thinks they can exaggerate stereotypes of a marginalized group because it's funny is an outright áss.
