Hello Sandbox!

Posting here isn't something that I often do, but I have noticed people here are a lil more artistically inclined than the other lobbies, and are also more engaging and fun to talk to so I've decided to make this thread here.

At any rate, this is a long-term project created by someone who obsessed with film! It's Basil's Film Journal

Basically I'm going to list the films that I want to watch and organize them, and might post a hot take or two about movies I have recently seen. I hope to have written my first script by the end of college!

I could honestly really just write this movie off like most internet douchebag reviewers but I don’t like being an overzealous díckass about things I don’t like especially when I see why a whole lot of other people do

so ya I guess I’ll forever dislike jaws or something lol

I can’t help but die on the inside with every scene that the shark is in and every time they describe him it takes me out of the movie cause I instinctively just go “NO THATS NOT HOW IT IS”

man. some things are just not meant to be. I feel like this’ll be the movie that I’ll rewatch every 5 years out of guilt and just fail to get myself to love

sorry pal :(

I feel bad cause I GET IT. Its iconic for a reason, and that’s that It’s Really Good. It’s suspenseful and fun and very well-directed, I caught a couple really great shots here and there but I just CANT get in on the fun with everyone else because I am a lad who grew up loving sharks :/

I feel like it’s kinda maybe how an astronaut would feel about watching Gravity or something idk

lmao I love this letterboxd review:

“A tragic tale of a lost and distressed fish hunted down by an aquaphobic police chief, a disgraced oceanographer trying to regain some of his tarnished reputation and a nasty drunk with a fetish for bowlegged women. All of them egged on by a corrupt mayor trying to find someone or something to blame for his small islands dwindling tourist industry and his poor taste in fashion. I wish it had a happy ending, but they even go so far as to insult the fishes mother before finally commiting the coup de grace. Shameful stuff.”

watching that movie with the slightest marine biology background just completely destroys the experience

twin peaks is so good , especially the first season and fire walk with me. the second season kind of loses the plot a little bit in favor of the paranormal aspects but i still really like it. the latest season that just came out on showtime is very.. strange. it definitely is a work of art but i dont think im hipster enough for it. granted i didnt finish it though so i dont really know where it was going lol

like i could gush and gush about how no director has ever better utilized music and jump cuts and how the suspense lineage of hitchcock would have died out without carpenter but really you should just watch more of his movies
