ITT everything gym-related. Post your lifts and workout pics, gym stories, etc.

I'm aware 90% of EM users are degenerate potheads but it's never too late to put down the weed bong and pick up the dumbbells. If any of you are interested in getting into weightlifting and have questions about anything hmu on Skype @ Antithesis91. I'm actually very nice.

It depends. I like to do squat and deadlift on the same day, so I might only do 10 sets total in a workout that might take an hour or up to an hour 20.

If I'm isolating smaller muscles in the upper back I might do 20 or more sets from 4 or 5 different exercises.

I personally think capping your reps in any set (excluding your first and 2nd set) is wasting the set. So, 4x10 doesn't look like the way to go. Just in my opinion and experience.

I usually just max out on the last set if im doing 4x10/4x12

Hmm I see.
How much volume do you guys go for each workout?
I just started this week (bought a year-sub so I have to go at it for a year now).

I've been trying to do straight sets of 4x10 in most exercises but that is killer with 45sec breaks.

I had never done a working set beyond 12 reps at 225 at the time of that max set, so it wasn't obsolete weight yet. My spotter told me to just do a max set at around 10 reps, and I had the rest in me.

16rep would make sense for leg isolations I guess, why the would you do that on Bench? Just messing around?
over 7 years
I typically do reps off of 245; I was just told to do a max set on 225 one day so I did.

295 from 225 is a lot of weight. thats 70 lbs heavier than a 16rep working set (not sure who reps 16 though).. 75% is reasonable for working set compared to 1RM.

Short man at 5'9 with a 27.2 BMI. Unsure of wingspan, but I assume it's shorter than my height.

No idea why my max bench is so low compared to my max repetitions at 225, because I realize I should be able to put up 315 at least. I have used GW501 in the past, so that could have something to do with it. I'm also open to the idea that my form goes to cheat mode in higher rep sets, but that is fine.

Bodyfat anywhere between 14-18%. Last time I did a caliper test a few months ago it was 13.4% which seemed too low at the time, and my scale tells me 19%, which seems a bit too high.

Also wtf is your BMI if you're getting 2 plates up for 16 reps at ~184 lbs
deletedover 7 years
If you're getting two plates up for 16 reps then your max should be much higher than 295

Also realized Devante is cut-up af. Tell me how you like the Muay Thai. I've been doing that since last August along with Jiu Jitsu and it has been a merry old time.

Push-ups are obviously an excellent exercise, but your strength gains if you're only doing body weight exercises are going to be very limited.
