I don't get what petricigy as a mod can do that petricigy as a user can not. If they wanted to target minors they would have done so by now, it's not like being a moderator gives you a special privilege to do it.
Like honestly your argument couldn't be more wrong. Pushing for them to be demodded but still kept on the site will not stop them from doing "pedophilic" things. If anything them being a mod would actually keep that in check

i agree, it's more of "they're in the spotlight" sort of thing. if they've been doing pedophilic things, then they shouldn't be on the site, yes.

To be fair, Arcbell did loads of stuff for me whilst I was admin, and he's really handy with technical stuff. Most of his previous history was because he was in love with a catfish.

i don't think that really helps his case

Arcbell has had a bad patch, sure, but he's intrinsically a nice guy who wants to help people. I'm not saying that what he's done in the past is acceptable, I'm just saying that at least when it comes to my perspective of him, it doesn't define his prerogative. I get why you would hold onto it, but I don't feel like he was a bad appointment, especially based on my interactions with him during my adminship.

if he wants to help people he can self delete or apologize to every user he's been a douche too, or both.

speaking outside of this mod business, this is messed up. no, this isnt about the exchange of sexual favours because thats going way too far in this discussion of whether or not it is appropriate for someone to be at least influencing decisions that affect everyone, but most importantly those who feel threatened by the decision maker's nature

The shitposting was okay until people who have no knowledge of the person in question chime in and lock arms with the lynch mob.

I understand that people who know the situation better than most may have their concerns, and I understand that some people believe that others are not capable of change, so I feel like a certain level of caution surrounding the situation is acceptable. There is only so much that needs to be said though until it becomes flat out bullying and harassment.

Coming from someone with a rich history of harassment and bullying and who currently actively harasses and bullies others on this site

None of this matters in light of the fact that 2/3 years ago he was essentially the only mod on this site, handling reports as they were filed and iirc no overturns until he decided to abuse his powers. Since then we've recruited mods that don't understand basic concepts like Gamethrowing, OGI, or meta abuse, so having someone on the team that understands the game and was around when the game wasn't the pointgrindingshitfest that it currently is only good for the site.

And sure he's going to go out with a bang and find some systems to disrupt, but honestly that's good for the site too.
