Just figure out something that you want to build and then research what you need to build it. Don't worry about having enough knowledge to build something because you never will have enough.

maybe something involving scraping and string manipulation. lots of that in webdev!
Any language that allows anonymous functions can f*ck right off. There are a lot of people that like it though! I think when I become more comfortable with it I won't be so dramatic about it.
yeah my colleagues were saying no new startups are using ruby at all, it's all javascript. Our CTO is a big ruby guy so we use it because he's a ruby wizard.
It's weird that javascript is so popular yet no one seems to like it at all.
looool Ruby was definitely a fad language and is quickly becoming something that most companies are not really hiring for. Javascript is the devil, but I know it, and they're right in a sense. I primarily use that for any web facing or mobile development.
I've kind of started planning out what I want to do after this position, and I'm going to go to whatever technology interests me. Right now I'm all about the further evolution cloud services so maybe try to get a job with CloudFoundry or something
makes sense. the devs in my company are saying they think everything is going to be javascript eventually. ruby is falling by the wayside, or as i like to say, off the rails.

I'm sick so I'm staying in. I drank the past two nights and it didn't end up well for me. :( So I'm here to shitpost and to fight Steve.
I just want to make sure everyone knows that it's not going great for me.
what's wrong, steve?
I mean I don't really watch UFC, nor do I know if you do, but I know enough about it to know that it's going about as well as CM Punk in his fight about a week or so ago.
