however, every complaint topic ever created has been saying how stupid the r-word hc vio is, it's pretty easy for someone to be unaware that intending to call someone an rtard creatively could result in a vio

the fact that two mods posted while vilden said it three times, then tatami gave vilden a vio and didn't delete any of the posts until i brought it up is noteworthy

Basically, the hc vio was arbitrarily used contextually by one mod to forum ban a user,

i literally have not once argued against the mods this strongly because usually they are right to a degree, this time they're worng and it's a shame you guys can't just remove the vio and make it how you want it to be, just because you're trying to further some weird agenda on the internet

My main gripe is about the stringent nature of the rules and the consequences considering how easy and frivolously vios are handed out.

I saw this guy in the lobby chat after he was unbanned and he was pretty heated over the whole ordeal - which could have been entirely avoided if the system weren't as punishing.

technically, yes, but that kind of intent is very difficult to tell. however, even if you do, it would not be as damaging as using "mentally challenged" assuming that your intent isn't recognised

Okay how about a different wording on this:

vilden basically called Calvin a r-etard, nobody is arguing he didn't and let's not pretend he didn't.

vilden's insults were extremely basic and literally consisted of of just saying "you really are mentally challenged Calvin."

Calvin, as the mature young man he is didn't feel offended or hurt by these comments because it's really a very simple jab and could be replaced by "you're stupid Calvin" and nothing would change.

Despite Calvin not feeling offended yet the insult being directed at him vilden was given a vio - which makes absolutely NO sense.

Based on this am I allowed to take offense and report someone for insulting someone who isn't even directing their words at me?

furthermore, "mentally challenged" would never make it on to a list of slurs because it's contextually an OK phrase. in this case, it was used as an insult, and regardless of WHICH insult it was meant to be, it was still HC.

if i haven't hammered the point hard enough...

you know. hc.

hc is supposed to just be a zero tolerance rule though. you can't put context to things because then you have to start drawing lines and drawing is for idealists or something
