this isnt a complaint and it is epicmafia related (words we can and can't use ingame)

seeing as though i just got perma banned for using the phrase "mentally challenged" as an insult, can you mods create an official list of words/phrases that are HC?

also mods should not be allowed to self-moderate HC reports anymore because that's stupid. if one mod is offended by something they just auto-HC it when it's not even HC

furthermore, "mentally challenged" would never make it on to a list of slurs because it's contextually an OK phrase. in this case, it was used as an insult, and regardless of WHICH insult it was meant to be, it was still HC.

if i haven't hammered the point hard enough...

much like unknowing users use the word redacted to mean "very very stupid", it's not tolerated. unintentionally or not it does just as much damage.

and, to top it all off, he was clearly substituting it for redacted anyway. there's no question that this shouldn't have been overturned.

honestly connor, what took you guys this long to say that? this is the best explanation from the mod team on the matter and it's something that i can say "alright that's fine" about and stop posting

the hc rules are terrible now and more ppl will be banned and less and less ppl will be on the site bc ppl are mean and like to say bad words

I'd argue that while he definitely had no nice intentions behind his comments he was just throwing a generic insult out - if you replaced it with "dumb" or "stupid" I doubt he'd even be reported which I think is very telling.

Copy paste from the rules:

"In cases where slurs are not used, but the speech is still perceived as hateful, the guiding principle is whether or not the user reasonably expected someone to interpret their comment as a slur. In these cases, a user's history of HC will be taken into account when evaluating their intent."

I understand the point you're trying to make where he has a history of HC vios but I think that there should be some leniency based on the severity of the comments - which leads back to my first point.

And based on that are you going to just vio anyone that calls anyone dumb or stupid?

that's a worse explanation than all the gobbledegook about mentally challenged being an artsy way of saying the r word. stick to that rather than saying vilden's past HC vios mean that mentally challenged is now hc

Well that depends, harodigh, on whether calling someone mentally challenged is classified as hateful comments. And seeing as vilden's got two HC Vios and a note for hateful comments, his intent is fairly clear in being hateful.
