And apart from that there are many institutions that aren't intrinsically racist but have people in power that are racist that need to be outted - such as some of the police jurisdictions like in Chicago which is why there are outside companies coming in to investigate.
Slavery back in the 1800s has nothing to do with some of the racial arguments today and prejudice against a single person has nothing to do with racial tension caused by people with prejudices gaining power in systems of the government/other companies.

Okay I'll cut in and just say that the past has nothing to do with the current system which is not only racist but also pretty ducked up as it screws over ALL races not just blacks.
If you're born poor you're basically destined to remain impoverished your entire life and with a large amount of minorities already lower in terms of their economic status they're all but victims of a system meant to make the rich even richer and the poor unable to better themselves.
