Christianity is pretty bad but at least Jesus et al. didn't marry and have sex with children, massacre entire tribes, capture/own/trade slaves, and spend a whole decade initiating wars of conquest.
Islam came into existence by way of a series of wars ending in the conquest of the Arabian Peninsula and within a century and a quarter it had annexed pretty much the entirety of the Middle East, North Africa, and the Iberian Peninsula, but yeah, totally not a religion steeped from birth in political violence.
"you can't just assume that Islam encourages killing non-Muslims just because it says that in Quran." I can't even --. The Quran is the holy book of Islam. Everything that is written in it is meant to be an explicit teaching of Islam. That would be like saying "Just because the Bible says that homosexual relations are a sin, that doesn't mean that Christians believe it." Anyone who doesn't believe that the Quran in its entirety speaks for all of Islam is denying one of the core tenets of belief in the religion.
That being said, over 100 times? There's a lot of emphasis on that no? One would hope that people wouldn't have to be reminded that many times to battle in times of war, especially when the Prophet himself was involved in many if not all of them.
I'll bite though. In Surah At-Tawbah, (9:5) "So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captive and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them." This was revealed at a time when the muslims were not at war and to reinforce that, the surah indicates to wait until the sacred months have passed. In a call to Jihad, there is no waiting. You defend the faith sacred month or not. If you've studied the chronology of the Quran, that verse was said to have been revealed at the time that the Muslims had a peace treaty with the people of Mecca where they resided.
Context may be everything, but when a holy scripture has to endorse war or killing that many times, it speaks a lot to the religion's priorities.

"The problem is that the Koran/Quran tells Muslims to kill infidels over 100 times." Mafiagod you can't just assume that Islam encourages killing non-Muslims just because it says that in Quran. the verses about killing non-Muslims could only belong to war time or something. maybe some non-Muslims attacked Muslims at some point and then Muhammad said that to encourage people to fight those certain non-Muslims. all I'm saying is that anything can be easily be taken out of context. I'm not defending Islam or anything I just hate it when people are being ignorant.
"not only that, but you literally can't prove that the past happened" Ok.what did you just drinked?

guys let me just say one thing.. you can never prove what is from god and what is not.. like you can never prove whether or not a certain text or prophet is truly from god.
not only that, but you literally can't prove that the past happened. I'm 17 years old but I can't really prove that I've been in this world for 17 years.. I could have been created like an instance ago but brainwashed to feel like I've lived for 17 years..
This is not a general principle as anti islamists see it, which commands all muslims to kill disbelievers, it is saying that we should respond when attacked, and not allow ourselves and our brothers in islam and humanity to be harmed.
Islam does not even allow the killing of tree's in times of war, nor women nor children, would it really allow us to kill non-believers just like that? No. The Qur'an says : Say: "Oh, you who disbelieve! "I do not worship that which you worship, "Nor do you worship That Which I worship. "Nor will I worship that which you have been worshipping, "Neither will you worship That Which I worship. "To you your religion and to me mine."
In addition to this, the prophet (saw) our leader, his own uncle was a disbeliever, yet he never killed him.
Unfortunately, so many muslims these days run around using kafir as an insult. It is something we should protect ourselves from yes, disbelief that is, however, the Qur'an does not teach us to be horrible to non-believers, rather to look at them as a future muslim and also, they might go to junnah and we may not. Not all muslims will.
P.S to the person that was quoting a bunch of Qur'an, those verses are talking about hellfire and the punishment that the disbelievers will recieve. Firstly, not all people that die in this life as disbelievers will go to hellfire as Allah will test them and Secondly, There is 73 sects of muslims, Only one of those will go to heaven so the other 72 sects of muslims are included in those quotes. Allah talks in the Qur'an about disbelievers, this includes some muslims and christians, atheists, agnostics, whatever. It is more than just saying the oath of islam that makes you a muslim. Lastly, Allah says he will punish them, that does not mean we can kill them.
Mafiagod, The Qur'an tells muslims to kill non-believers, only in times of war, if muslims are provoked then we can fight back. We are not allowed to provoke them. If they leave islam and then start to attack muslims then yes we are allowed to fight them, and fighting brings killing.
Most people will now quote surah 9:5 where the qur'an says "but when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practice regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is oft-forgiving, Most merciful." The Holy Quran, Chapter 9, Verse 5
Firstly, this verse is talking about the treaty between the muslims and the pagans of mecca, who used to kill the muslims who at the time this verse had been revealed, were not retaliating.
Then the previous verse, Allah tells the muslims to wait 4 months to see if they change things and then in verse 5 Allah tells them to fight them. The chapter also tells us however, that if they surrender then we should accept it and if someone from them ( the disbelievers ) seeks protection we should protect them, in times of war especially.
The Quran explicitly forbids killing. Whosoever kills a human being for Murder or Creating Mischief in the Land, it is as if he had killed the whole of Human Kind and whoso saved the life of one as if he has saved the life of all Mankind The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 5, Verse 12
It's true that Christians still follow some of the Old Testaments lol.... but anyways the point is that the bible is way violent than the Quran. Whether you like it or not :)
The problem is that the Koran/Quran tells Muslims to kill infidels over 100 times. (Not to mention that the Bible is ALSO part of the Muslim religion.) The Bible isn't encouraging the progression of killing non-believers, because Christianity is not a nation like Israel was. The Bible promoted Genocide for one special occurrence, and that was ONLY to Israel. (As for God promoting judgement within the nation, every nation has a right to determine what their death sentences are based on their morals and beliefs, even in America we have the death penalty still.) When God who created all life tells multiple people to do something and they do it, it is no longer in the definition of evil. You are not just implying that the tribes of Judah and the Old Testament are violent=evil you are implying that God is. Also it was God who issued death. He could have issued that everyone get purple faces at the age of 40, and I guarantee all of humanity would find that purple faces was the most violent thing ever. Because purple faces / death, whatever the absolute curse is, is a symbol of separation from God. Which is what you were made for, to be with God. Your very purpose in all of existence is now forfeit if you do not have faith that Christ is God and able to save you from eternal damnation before you die. I have a couple degrees in Theology if you want to talk seriously to me about religion PM me. This is the last post I will put here.
Actually, if you knew the depths of the Hebrew meaning of Yahweh, you'd know that God professes to be both genders. He is the Father of Christ and all of Life. Therefore, it makes sense that He refers to Himself as male, as creator.
I have heard the quote before, I find it to be nonsense. With all due respect intended. the implication is that atheists disbelieve in God because we don't like him or are introduced to the wrong God. every major Abrahamic faith worships the same God. in fact, the Jewish faith shares more in common with Islam than one might think. That being said, I can't vote on the poll using my phone so I'll say it here. I was Muslim and now am atheist. so I went from la ilaaha ilallah to la illah. How would Dr. Naik address that? Or are we to go with the shariah prescribed punishment for apostasy?
