Piney, the bible and the Quran are written fundamentally differently. The Quran is a compilation of everything that God told the prophet was Islamic law as divine revelation straight from the horse's mouth. So unless God told his prophet something he didn't mean, the Quran actually does define a muslim's belief.
Rhinosoreass, your condescension continues to amaze me. You think you should know better because you were born into a Muslim family? Not only did I grow up in a Muslim family, I studied the Quran, and was a hafiz before I became an apostate. I not only gave you the exact ayah but the agreed upon timing of that revelation. The Quran is not compiled in chronological order. It's grouped by subject. But according to most eminent scholars, they can date the revelations based on testimony from the sahabah. Get outta here acting like you have any more "Muslim cred" than anyone else who grew up with Islam.

Rhino has a point, I mean in the Bible there are reports of things that have occurred, but you can't say that the writers support the things happening unless it explicitly says they do. Like you can't say news reporters support the atrocities in the world, they're just saying what's happened.
According to the bible, a good portion of natural disasters were actively causes by God as a form of malicious punishment to those who disobeyed him. Which in effect also means that once God sends those people to Hell, they will have been punished twice for the same crime.
Asking God for help or prayer is a futile effort at best and presumptuous at worst. If God is omniscient, as most Abrahamic faiths believe, he knows the future. That means he knows before anyone even makes a prayer whether or not he would give that person what they desire. Why then make them jump through hoops? That's kind of a thing to do. If you think it's because God wants to reward those humble enough to ask him, then consider that God already knows exactly who would end up praying to him and who would not. So once again, the act of praying doesn't really change anything. God knew from the moment he created you exactly how much help he was going to give you. No amount of prayer can change that.

all I believe in, at the moment is the existence of god and nothing else. since we can't really know for sure what god wants from us due to the fact that we don't know what is and what isn't from god, religion becomes meaningless. all that can be proven by logic is the existence of god.

Well I should know better since I was born in a Muslim family.. Quran is just sentences that were sent down to Muhammad at certain times. it could have happened at any time or place, like in the middle of a speech or right at the battlefield or anywhere.. all Muslims know that.. again to truly understand a verse you gotta know at what situation that verse was sent down. so that's what Quran is really.. atleast that's what Muslims claim it to be. so there you go
Hey so dont you think there were natural disasters before...There were storms, floods, diseases and famine during bible times where God didnt do anything..There were times when ppl died and they stayed dead...This is a natural world ruled by natural laws...basically...S'hit Happens
tyrannosarusrex,No not really.God help both who can't help themseleves and these don't.but he often choice the ones who decide on god help and help themselves at the same time.
@Peta,Your ignorance is too damn high that I am not even gonna answer your Childish accusation when you state false information in the first place. Not all your saying is false, though
just some thoughts..in the bible, god does a bunch of miraculous stuff. but in today's world he seems rather absent. natural disasters persist worldwide and so much happens that he claimed he hates. what has he been doing for the last 2000 or so years?
