I agree with erased and rakugo being the best, no competition at all. Reikenzan's character designs interested me but I haven't watched that yet, anyone have thoughts on it?
killing your parents unintentionally and having to grow up with not only that guilt but w/o any sense of direction brings out something to the degree of that. her crazy affection for yukki was because he was the first thing in awhile that gave her any sense of stability; a kid who hasn't had stability in awhile is going to immediately latch onto that.
you're right about her not having much of a character development but personally i was ok with how her personality shifted so frequently based on the situation she was in and who she was with.
I just think that undergoing major development in the past doesn't make a character exempt from ever changing again. I also just thought the excuse for her extreme Yandere shtick was contrived and not unique enough for me to just accept it.
I need to remember to post in this thread on my anime account.
yuno wasn't really supposed to develop much as a character
since she already went through the character development
but in regards to the show, i thought it was really good. i think that a lot of the stories and character traits as a result made sense, even if the writers did go to the most extreme character traits they could. honestly even if you watch the subbed of mirai nikki, i HIGHLY RECOMMEND watching all of the murmur shorts dubbed because they're way funnier dubbed than subbed.
I personally felt mostly indifferent to Yuuki until the latter half of the series.
Then I disliked him strongly.
Yuno annoyed me the whole time and didn't develop as a character ONCE. Some of the side characters were really fun except that they were, uh, side characters. They weren't exactly fully fleshed out and their brief moments of fame were all they really had. I did like Akise and Minene, especially the former. Again, they were side characters.
The anime just felt a little senseless, I guess. As I've seen mentioned before, it kept trying to stack one Epic & Impactful event on top of another and each individual one sort of lost its meaning.
But that's a really extra-subjective opinion and I watched it a while ago and I have flaky memory so meh.
Mirai Nikki is good but I do agree w/all your points, Orly. Luckily I have a soft spot for really wimpy protags so I liked Yuki as a whole, though my opinion of him went up and down like crazy the entire time. Akise was cool tho. Luv that guy. Though Minene was probably the best character imo.
Also I second Seraph of the End it broke my soul and it can break yours too for the low low price of 19.99
But I bet you'll never guess my favorite anime. Never.
welp the ova didnt change my opinion much. it was subbed, though, so i got to compare the VAs for the two leads, and wow i must say the dubbed yuki and yuno are VASTLY superior to the original VAs. like, leagues. they did a phenomenal job w the english cast, in retrospect. this was def one of the better dubs ive heard in a while.
the ending is meh, i assumed that was what happened anyway, without the feel-good ova. im not sure if it makes sense, but then a lot of things didnt and sometimes thats ok. i think Future Diary had its moments, and it was certainly enjoyable to watch. nothing to lose sleep over, though.
erased is really good. divine gate has been a real letdown, luck and logic is ok, schwarzesmarken had some promise but i think it's progressing too slowly, and everything else i've tried just hasn't really clicked with me. i haven't tried rakugo but it doesn't seem that appealing to me
I'm sorry for contributing to the divided conversation threads here but SHOUWA GENROKU RAKUGO SHINJUU is for some reason extremely appealing to me. I'm actually tempted to read the manga which I've rarely done in the past.
ERASED/This Town Without Me is also awesome, naturally.
Listen to this guy. Rakugo and Erased are the best two shows of the season easily.

i just finished it but i don't understand the fking ending
her online persona manages to take possession of a physical form via the crazy rig she has, and thus tries to take her place, completing the allegory the show posits
i just finished watching Future Diary - Mirai Nikki
definitely a flimsy plot and some huge glaring errors in terms of char dvlpmt and logic... but still an entertaining watch. i think it actually focused a touch too long on yuki/yuno... hammering the point home a little too much i think, esp given the ending.
made for some good background viewing, though. certainly some cool concepts and artistic styles in there. oh and yuki is a massive poon.
