You can and were always able to. That's how it worked back in the day, when there were no lobbies whatsoever to begin with. And it worked perfectly.

"tables won't fill" -- do a trial run then. this is an assumption based on how it was like a year ago. it's a guess and a dumb reason not to trial it

We had a trial run for a year and a half in a row, if not more than that.

The "trial run" in itself was what caused the current cancerous setup prevalences to begin with.

What about giving a try to showing games in a reverse order first? So by default, the list would only show games that haven't yet started, putting ones in front that were made earlier, rather than later. This way FP and classic wouldn't flood away comp games, forcing people to constantly remake.

There could be an option to order games normally, plus after a few minutes games that don't have at least 2 players joined should go back ranking lower, to prevent afk hosts from polluting the top of the list.

This is an excellent idea and a way, way, way, way freaking better idea than unmerging lobbies.

All you litterally have to do, is join a setup and read the first two strategies someone else made for it to have a general idea of how to play.
