i also think ur getting whiplash the wrong way around

It really was not anything special.

it was actually pretty clever and all but for the fact that it looked like he was masturbating half the time (which was surely intentional imo) it was a very artsy and inspiring finish-up

Whiplash was very special, I disagree wholeheartedly. I won't repeat myself so just check my in-depth thoughts post.

Theory of Everything. Check.

Great film. Even greater performances. Redmayne deserved the Oscar.

Probably one of the most boring biopics I've ever sat through.

You must not have seen many biopics then.

But yeah, the writing wasn't the best, especially in early parts of the movie. The performances do a great job carrying the whole thing though. I had fun watching it with my family.

Yeah, Whiplash is more akin to LOST in that it drags on for way too long and then poops its pants.

DUDE....the sopranos ending owned hard. it was literally perfect.

2014 in film: Gyllenhaal had an amazing performance, Cumberbatch played the same role in yet another movie, lots of of award season bait, comic book movie??? Animated family feature film sequel??? One of those cliche "crazy mentor" movies that gets all of its momentum trashed by the unbelievable car crash scene and has one of the worst endings in Media since the Sopranos,

I think that Nightcrawler is the only good film in your list. The rest are either terribly written Oscar bait or just not good.

i think gone girl was better than birdman. but that's just imo.

I was disappointed by gone girl.

Here's my top 10

Birdman
Interstellar
Imitation game
whiplash
nightcrawler
grand budapest
gone girl
foxcatcher
xmen
horrible bosses

I feel like people are going to think I went off the rails at the end, but everything makes perfect sense. and boyhood isnt good, it's just a good concept. Nor am I going to like a movie, because it has one good actor (theory)

And interstellar is so high, because I like watching movies where I feel like a small person watching something much bigger than me and sitting in awe.

And I have a comedy because comedies can be good. even if theyre sequels. Chris Pine is going to be huge in 5 years

yeah uh boxcutter doesn't spoil that it's [REDACTED]

but gone girl has better performances than birdman, but birdman has better cinematography. i value performances more than cinematography but i respect both.

Gone Girl was Fincher at his finest and that already says enough about how gory, messed up, and twisted this movie is. I adored it.

The Grand Budapest Hotel: I thought this was going to be my favorite film of the year when I had first seen it. It was definitely one of the most entertaining, witty films I have seen this year and probably Wes Anderson's best. This movie was not only wittily written, but also incredibly well-casted. You don't even have to mention the fantastic music, incredible shots (which are all paintings, you can just pause this movie at any instance and screencap and there you have it, a good background), the hysterically funny plot to enjoy this movie. Just get in with a notepad and see how many cameos you can count and that alone is both fun and mindblowing. Wes Anderson is a genius and all of his films absolutely reek with overflowing originality and wit.
