This movie was by no means "Oscar bait". I can understand saying that about Boyhood, about Theory of everything, hell even a movie as brutally honest as Whiplash. But not Birdman. No. This film is too intricate to be thrown off as mere Oscar bait.
I guess film is just subjective, pal

Go watch Tinker Bell and the Legend of the Neverbeast and come back to me. I'm not even joking you'll see that it outclasses every movie of 2014.

Birdman is an arthouse movie. Arthouse films aren't for everyone, I'm certainly a huge fan.
Oh, Lucy was absolutely horrendous
Arthouse movies don't win Oscars, mate.
This one just did
Yes because it wasn't traditional arthouse, it was Oscar bait that needed a crutch because the writer can't write movies like I just said if you bothered to read past that sentence.

Also, Boyhood was fantastic. Adding it to the list.

Also, the film had a lot of depth to it. I don't think we were even watching the same film. It had far too many hidden messages and honestly the more I thought about the film the more I enjoyed it. The movie catered to a specific audience more so to any other, which is the audience of film buffs and to-be critics like myself.
I won't even repeat myself

Also it was apparently a comedy which I didn't even realize until days later. I don't know how people can find horrible lines like "SMELLS LIKE BALLS" funny at all. Yuck. It was a horribly pretentious film in the guise of an arthouse movie or whatever since the writer can't write movies.
You say that Lucy was absolutely horrendous but it was better than Birdman. Lucy was Sci-Fi, it was kind of horrible but if there can be movies with aliens and teleporting, Lucy has a place too. Some alternate earth like planet could have humanish people that do only use 10% of their brains and stuff. I think people mostly hate it because they think they're so clever that they know the 10% thing is wrong. Those people would like Birdman.
The best movie is funny games, but it isn't from 2014

I only give one 10 stars out of 10 rating for 2014 and that goes to...
Tinker Bell and the Legend of the Neverbeast. You probably think I'm trolling but I love the Tinker Bell movies and this was great, it made me laugh and it made me cry. Lots of funny and sweet moments and Fawn was great. 10 stars out of 10
