THE TITLE IS WRONG AND I CANT EDIT IT. IM ASKING FOR PROMOTING OTHER SETUPS IN REDHEARTS, JUST SO FP/CLASSIC AREN'T THE MOST PLAYED SETUPS AS THEY PROMOTE LAZY MAFIA.
Reasons why they should NOT BE THE DEFAULT SETUP OF MAIN LOBBY:
promote NLing D1 for insta lylo
promote following clears mindlessly
are overly reliant on mechanics instead of on actual scumhunting
are extremely luck based and promote passive town play which leads to all other setups have higher maf win ratios
coinflips are bad
promote CC fights instead of actual behaviour reading
reliance on swing elements that make the whole game a farce (FP in particular)
inflate bad players' win ratios making them think they are better than they really are
People have tried, when bronto was admin they created a featured setups list. They're on the right side, but yet noobs don't click to try them. Gallis hunter, minesweeper, and other setups are banned although being the same thing as fp in a similar spectrum.
For setup to replace,a good one would be o2r as it's the closest that we have to a good setup that's similar to classic.

i speak from new player point of view, i join the competition when i get all the point i needed, for me was a choice.
agree on both side. i do agree that the setup of fancy pants does not prepare well people for the competition and annoys me when people play like robot and nl day one when i can see it is the bad option. however u need see this from business point of view. a lot of people i see with a coloured name play only these setups and other like it, and getting rid of these setup will drive them away, which loses the sites creator money.
my solution is that when all gold heart been played, host red heart game of nice setups that are not fancy pants. it is like transition from caterpillar to butterfly, playing the scum hunt setup in the red heart is like the cocoon stage and the player will join the gold heart when he is ready to break free from the shell.
What people seem not to understand is not everyone comes to epicmafia to play competitive games and win trophies. Let people have their fun. Everyone started from classic/multi.
If you want to promote other setups then do it in the mentoring lobby (I have not been there so idk). Another option could be what MG said. blacklisting FP/Classic for 2 or 3 days a week - not on weekends. This might cause a drop in daily visits though.

blacklist the most popular setup people play on the site? +1 itg321
see randoms can play decent idg where the argument of new setups intimidating them comes from. a decent game with randoms who tried to win was it that hard tho

Well I see he has a very little time to program and s**t :(
I've regularly hosted harder setups but have given up after no one joining for a long time
I've had this happen as well, I feel like it might be because people are reluctant to join a new setup with only 1 person in it, assuming it won't fill. Maybe it could work if 2-3 people join it at the same time.

Yes, I can't see Lucid getting remotely irritated by constant bombardments of "How does X work?" or "What does this function do?" when he clearly has very little free time for EM as it is.

Btw Where is lucid?

Anyone who thinks someone could just jump in and quickly add things to EM is either deluding themselves or knows nothing about programming. The code for this is so vast, and undoubtedly Lucid's own indexing system makes no sense for anyone but him (like most independent programmers).
It would be better than no access it all if it was learned by someone else.. or if lucid just help6ef them

It would take weeks-months (depending how much free time they had, which in ediz's case is a grand total of 0) just to figure out how it works now.

If you all didn't know, ediz12 is an excellent coder and could do it if he and lucid agreed

Setups like that are needed though for newer players... the goal is to get more diverse players, not to totally shun anyone who plays them

Also, I suggested what Retti is suggesting about 2-3 years ago, hah. It won't happen.
that's because we need a dedicated coder for when lucid isn't around because he treats this website like a step-son that he never bothers to visit anymore
Given Lucid has added things in a hodge-podge fashion for 7 years, a 'dedicated coder' would break more things than they fixed for a long time before they could work anything out.
A town is divided in two by a fence down the middle, with only two crossings, and has been for over a century. A new development company comes in, and asks to knock down the fence. The mayor agrees they can do this, but only if they tell him why the fence was built in the first place.

lucid, if you're reading this: please hire a dev team of sorts. maybe just one person while you're gone, but nonetheless someone who can help develop the site as mods/admin are limited to the very little tools you have given us.

We just need someone with the technical skills of how to do it to volunteer really, I think it could happen. Once a guide exists we can direct new players to it.
