My thoughts on previous cheaters

I'm all for second chances, I screw up a ton and I'd like to think I have some leeway when I make a mistake. With that being said and in light of the new cheating allegation towards Sidekick, my philosophy with cheaters on this site is and will almost always be once a cheater always a cheater.

The reasoning behind this is because people don't just cheat for the fun of it, they cheat BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH. So what in the world would create a sudden shift in skill when the cheater has been banned for 6 months. If they weren't good enough to win a trophy 6 months ago why would they be good enough to win a trophy now.

There's not even like a real penalty to cheating, you get banned for 6 months from an online java mafia site where said ban can be easily bypassed by creating another account. Like there are basically next to no consequences for cheating.

Basically formers cheaters who come back and win a trophy such as sidekick should be under extremely heavy scrutiny and I know there are players that cheated before but have "reformed," but for the most part if you didn't have the skill to win a trophy in the past, there's really no idication as to why you have the skill to win one now.

That's assuming they get caught of course. Most cheaters get caught at some point. I've been thinking of drafting a proposed rule change regarding cheating. I think splitting cheating into major/minor categories might help. Not all cheats are equal/

At least not IMO. People won't learn their lesson that way and we wouldn't have genuinely good mafia players who are reformed users who've been banned in the past.

I thought of this before and proposed it. Sachy knocked it down pretty fast though, because I said that the account should be deleted--not just the trophy. There's currently no way for us to just delete trophies. Lucid can I guess, but he's not on to handle that.

If you cheat once, eh you might not cheat again. After two times though, it should be sayonara forever.

I really hated how the petermh, prevail and sidekick cases all got handled. Those are the only cases I remember from recent times, but I haven't been paying much attention so there's probably more

Accounts with illegitimate trophies should be deleted. Cheaters want the trophy, why let them keep it?
