Moderation Issues

I've been trying to keep my mouth shut for quite a while, but I've decided to finally make this thread because there are a lot of things that need to be addressed. No one is coming out with it when several people have complained about this, so I've decided to be the sacrificial lamb and post on behalf of the entire community. And if I lose any chance of being a moderator and fixing up the site, so be it. I'm more concerned that we have respectable people leading EM.

Reasons the mod team is unprofessional:

Jericho, a previously banned user, is modded. He reported Caroline for OGI to spite her for their previous tension, without addressing the guy who actually GRS'd.

Vancy / Rutab used modding powers to find my secret alt, which would have been fine, but one of them then unexusably told many non-mods I especially did not trust that I was Flux. This is the only conclusion I can come to.

Kino account shared with a banned user. This is unexusable in any case. Not only should she be punished, but she should definitely not be moderating the site.

I have no personal issue with any of the mods, but it truly does seem that it's a bit of a circlejerk. If I'm not mistaken, most of the moderators are close or at least have a mutual connection. This is a huge problem and I think others should be given a chance to mod, since most of them are not serious about the well-being of the site.

Moderators are supposed to be our system of control. It's supposed to be professional work. This is anything but. If you are not going to do what's good for the community, please don't become a moderator.

Caroline, I think a formerly banned user could eventually become a mod. People can change over time and I don't think you have to keep punishing someone over a former offence. I do think the reason of the previous ban should be taken into account. Was it as a newbie who just couldn't stop GRS-ing? Or was it because of severe harassment? And how has the person changed, since then?

About the account sharing: I don't know the details and I don't even know if it's true or not that a mod account shared, but account sharing with a non-mod as a mod is against the rules you should follow when you're a mod.

rutab i actually think you are a fine mod, however goodbar let weareking (?) on his account this past summer - demodded. kino let eris on her account, demodded first time, should be demodded now. calvin has the mental age of 6 and therefore shouldn't be a mod. i don't understand why previously banned users should even be able to mod this site? cheaters can't be mods but people who have been banned can? hmm.. i just think there needs to be some consistency with choosing mods and how the mods handle situations

Hello I am here to point out that the way in which Flux was talking to me was incredibly weird. She approached me saying things like "I know your name, what you look like, your Skype account" etc. She the proceeded to say things that only someone I know personally would know, so it could have been a friend or someone who spent a lot of effort into figuring out who I was. She then pretended to be rednose and it really scared me because he's done some pretty awful things to find out about people and spread their information. Was I in the right to ask Vancy who Flux was? Damn right I was. Did I tell anyone? No, I did not. Apple is extremely paranoid that one of us leaked. I also recall that many users that were not Vancy and me figured out who Flux was before we even found out.

I'm all for giving users a chance but banned users are banned for a reason and they should not be put in charge of banning users.

I'm not saying things were better under Bronto, I like the changes Vancy has put in place for the most part; but there's been a few big issues lately that have been for the most part ignored that I feel probably would've been handled better.

I'm not sure why so many people think this was better under Bronto. I think the fact that Vancy has been slowing changing these things is exactly why it's become so visible. Under Bronto it was just ignored by all, because he was such an improvement on the previous... chaos... that nobody was looking to cause drama over little things anymore.

The moderation of this game is worse than ever, truth be told. The only mods I hold any sort of respect for now, are Jackhammer and Tashie.

I also noticed the "closeness" of moderators a while ago, Apple. When Thebrontosaurus was administrator it seemed that the mods were a bit more... "diverse," for lack of a better term? There were mods from all sorts of parts of the site (himapapaftw and Moocow primarily being Sandbox users as an example), but since Vancy has become administrator they all seem to be from the same Main circlejerk.

Also in regards to kino, when they let said user share their account, some alt info was leaked to a group of Sandbox users who proceeded to have a field day with it. So you can add that too.

this proves there's bias between mods and friends, of course jen gave the deserving violation, but the fact mods are considering changing the meaning of the violation because of this is downright outrageous

Ya just noticed, didn't even bother reading the comments (don't feel like reading pages of comments) but that vio is fine if mods are trying to OT that that's dumb, I have noticed that some people were saying it shouldn't just be a warning or something but by the rules as it follows there's nothing they can do unless they change the rule first

To be blatantly honest. Calvin you reporting Caroline was probably one of the most petty things I have ever witnessed. Yes caroline was being petty for filing those reports in a game that was pretty obvious just users and friends having fun. But are you not supposed to be above the petty stuff that goes on. If you can sit there and say that you didn't file that report to be petty and defend your "GF" then you know you are lying. I think the mods at this exact moment are fine and do a admirable job. But Calv that was probably one of the most girly and petty things I have seen someone do.

Just checked the report, the spam vio is well deserved ESPECIALLY if they were asked to stop and there's nothing you can go against it. It should already be sustained

Unless you find who leaked your alt, Vancy can't do anything but warn the mod team not to leak and be careful about things they say.

And about banned users, I used to complain before about someone else. I have come to a point to accept that people can change. As long as they're doing their job what's the problem?

And not to mention Ucklar still has not a single idea how to mod reports properly even after modding for so long
