It can definitely be bittersweet, but an online relationship is pretty much the building up of being able to be there for each other physically. You can get excited about that. And when you're emotionally invested in someone, it's doable.

out of curiosity, did the college thing work out that way or did you guys discuss it prior to your choice?

The college thing isn't solidified, but a very likely move in order to further pursue our relationship.

I'm currently in a long distance relationship, and we met on here actually. His username is Muffled. We've been together for 4 months and I'll be moving to be with him soon. It's been hard, having us live so far away from each other, but I think it's totally worth it. Especially since we skype ALLLL the time and have really good communication. As for Betrayal's statement, I don't feel unsatisfied being a female in a long distance relationship. I'll get all I need soon ;D

I like to think of it not as "guys or girls who can't get anyone in real life" but rather a "people who spend more time online meeting people than in real life". If you think about it, a lot of us here spend way more time than we should on our computers playing games and meeting people. The manifest function of this site is to play mafia, but the huge latent function of it is meeting a lot of new people. A lot of people got to know each other here, including myself, and made a lot of friends and enemies. Some of these friendships became close and they started a relationship. Distance is an issue, sure, but here the distance disappears. We are all gathered from different parts of the world to play mafia on one website.
