Wikipedia says

The term metagame is a mathematic descriptor for set interaction governing subset interaction. The term passed from military use into political parlance to describe events outside conventional bounds that, in fact, play an important role in a game's outcome. For example, a military operation might be a game with its political ramifications being the metagame. Similarly, the passage of a law might be a game, with the political environment into which that law fits being the metagame.

Similarly, a game might be the passing of a law lacking majority support. The group opposing the law, benefiting in the metagame from the passage of said law, encourage their own members to vote in favor of the legislation.

Metagaming might also refer to a game which functions to create or modify the rules of a sub-game with the purpose of maximizing the subgame's ruleset. Thus, we might play a metagame of optimizing the rules of "chess-like" games to maximize the satisfaction of play, and perhaps arrive at the rules of standard chess as an optimum. This is related to mechanism design theory in which the metagame would be to create or make changes in the management rules or policy of an organization to maximize its effectiveness or profitability. Constitutional design can be seen as a metagame of assembling the provisions of a written constitution to optimize a balance of values such as justice, liberty, and security, with the constitution being the rules of the game of government that would result.

@ bronto-- you are just so stupid dude. how is that a meta thing?? are you freaking nuts?????// how is sheeping him for being good a meta thing???? and how is every meta wrong?????? you are totally nuts. i wonder how you even manage to play this game

Reputation is a form of meta, imo. Everyone knows he's good, so people will listen to him because of it. It's not wrong, it's just an observation.

People sheep Brown because they want to, not because of anything he does in particular. People's "meta" on brown is that he's a decent player and probably has good reads if he's town. This is not meta abuse.

People don't lynch Skippy as town because of something specific he does--a self established meta pact. This is meta abuse.

You don't seem to understand the fundamental difference.

@connor-- that isnt good. standing up doesnt give him the right to use his power to give him the trophy.

people got banned for cheating for much less than what mw did

The mods wanted to ban me over playing 8 games with Bluefish lol

This meta abuse has been going on for 3 rounds in multiple lobbies.

It's really sad tbh. mw would never get away with this with the administration from 6+ months ago. It's like Comp has turned into Training lobby. No one gets vio'd for breaking the rules anymore. They just get a spank on the hand and told not to do it again.

retti is standing up for what he believes in which is good. the problem is that what he believes in is wrong which is bad
almost 11 years
now no matter what you say connor, retti cant go back on his decision because he cant justify himself any more. he does not have the courage to admit that he did something wrong so what he will do is " i stick to my decision" without giving any arguments.

yeah im seriously telling you that the pastebin is dumb. he did more than just AtE as town. he used his run as OGI only as town as well. reread the games dude

Brown also gets sheeped a lot because people know he's good. His reputation helps him take over a lot of the games I've seen him in. Not sure how he played back in the day, but a lot of people just sheep him because he's so well-regarded. It's a meta thing, but it's also a style thing as well. There's a reason he has so many trophies.
deletedalmost 11 years
connor you're hurting me if you'd like to appeal in a pastebin or whatever then etc. etc. no more arguing

Let's all try to get along.

how you describe mw's play is like saying "i heard her type at night so i knew she was mafia, i'm not cheating, only borderline cheating"

except he actually does it on purpose

phoebo gets isp vios for that. and bloodcrown should too. brown is smart and makes sure he participates enough each day. he is absent most part of the day but he participates well when he comes back.
almost 11 years
none of that directly benefits them like mw's does
deletedalmost 11 years
BloodCrown literally just spends most of the day spamming emotes and hardly saying anything worthwhile in games

Phoebo borderline ISPs nearly every game
almost 11 years
they are borderline what, exactly? annoying? garbage? obnoxious? none of that is against the rules
deletedalmost 11 years
brownpimp's style isn't borderline?
what about BloodCrown/Phoebo's?
almost 11 years
retti that's not true. there are not many playstyles that are borderline
almost 11 years
soon they will lock this thread as well.
deletedalmost 11 years
a lot of playstyles are borderline, i think people should learn to adapt instead of crying about it working
deletedalmost 11 years
better to cry bias than to cry lucid.

you made the right call this time. just take the future as it comes, only thing you can do.

i think it'd be really obvious if someone was intentionally pushing the limits after this.

Yeah, then they'll cry bias though if we suspend their run. This was the issue with allowing him to win the trophy. Either way isn't fair because his playstyle is so borderline.
