Cheating Investigation Unit

over 10 years

We are looking for a group of community members to be a part of a full-time Cheating Investigation Unit (CIU). We feel that this will streamline cheating investigations, make less work for mods and community members who dedicate their time to it, as well as get more people involved in the community. Our hope is to catch more cheaters and deter people from cheating, as we will be able to use this team as a more vigilant watch.

This will be a team supervised by the mod team. You will be invited to a skype chat where round investigations will be discussed. This will be overseen by myself as well as any mods interested in assisting in handling cheating. We will be your go to people for any information or guidance you may need during the investigative process.

This would largely mean looking through games played and reading games of players near the top of the scoreboard, checking for any instances of rolesharing, meta abuse, multi-accounting or any form of cheating / sketchy play. This would also include making piratepads/pastebins or any sort of documents summarizing the games in question and what the alleged cheater is being accused of. With a sizable team of cheating investigators split between the two lobbies, we can effectively quash cheating more efficiently and prevent things from slipping through the cracks, as well as preventing the round from being paused needlessly.

This position would commit you to various levels of work, depending on demand and whether or not there is cheating present. We are looking for people with a strong interest in catching cheaters, experience in creating pastebins, and an in-depth knowledge of past cheaters and their tells.

If you are interested in being a part of the Cheating Investigation Unit, please copy the following application, fill it out with your info and PM it to me. I'll be accepting applications on a rolling basis and adding people to the team on an as needed basis.

Here is the application questionnaire: PMs not in this format will be ignored.

Name:

Date:

  1. Why do you want to be a part of the EM Round Cheating Squad?

  2. When it comes to cheating, what do you think you're best at detecting?

  3. Have you ever cheated before, and if so, how did you cheat?

  4. Have you done any sort of investigative work before? If so, could you provide some examples of your work?

  5. If there's any other important information we should know about you, please say so here.

The only one who was remotely decent at finding cheaters was gira

you should always be honest.

The success of this depends more on the people than the system. If the people applying just tried as hard both ways I think the results would be near identical, but having a position could either create a bit more biases and dramas or encourage them to work more on catching people or both, as well as some other things.

Basically this thing can go either way tbh

If someone asked me for help, which was rare, I would. I guess it depends on how many mods you have that are into cheating reports. I feel as if the people who will want to take on this responsibility will be awful at doing cheating reports so you've been warned.

Mods already have enough on their plates, and considering there are a lot of mods like yourself who either don't like cheating or aren't good at it, making a special team of people who are with guidance from mods would be a good idea imo.

I'm not sure this is a good idea.

Sure some people prefer cheating reports but making a team that strictly does cheating can be draining. Also if another mod wants a say in something or has an opinion welp, too bad you're not part of the cheating team??? And the people adept at catching cheaters tend to like to work alone anyway...

The idea is that a team would make this process less draining for the individual and allow the work to be split up more.

Mods can be active in this if they want to be, the idea is to try and spread the work around more since cheating isn't something that should be handled by one or two mods only.

but you don't need a strict team for that, a mod could simply ask another mod for help.

and you dont care what happens on the site. you dont care about the site at all. you just care about your own image. all you do is act like you care.

That's going too far. Really.

you went too far. you went out of your way to give vios to me. I have the chat logs of the discussion you had related to this vio in the mod chat.

love, your comment explains that as a mod you only like to think about your job and what you would like to do. you dont care a bit about what the site needs. you are selfish and you assume that all others would be selfish too.

dont give a ***, as a mod, i never did cheating reports because i'm not good at them and i dont like them, so i guess it's a little of both

how is it not your ******** concern??? you are an admin. every vio is your concern. it is not a dead issue it was sustained unfairly by a mod who was demodded. you just want me to have that vio without agreeing that i deserve it because you dont wanna look bad. by saying this you just think about doing your job good. and you dont care what happens on the site. you dont care about the site at all. you just care about your own image. all you do is act like you care.

it takes 2 mods to overturn a vio. when arcbell was admin he said he would ot it. empire the one who sustained it is demodded. so it should be removed. your bureaucracy is bad

Last time I checked, 2 mods quit when he OT'd their vio himself. I didn't even look at the report, whether I agree or not isn't my concern because I didn't handle it. It was already sustained. It's a dead issue. I can only do so much. I already spend more time dealing with this site than I do my real job.

KHNM, I appreciate that. Thank you.

I think you're doing s great job of explaining yor actions bronto. Children will whine when they misbehave no matter how rational the punishment - just ignore them

it is not unethical. if you disagree with the vio then comment to ot it. i willl need one other moderator to comment that. how is it unethical to do the right thing???

Laurie did the same thing for my violation. She reported it, called it a vio, and denied the appeal. Someone should explain the rules to her.

you are admin now, you have everything to do with it. it being there means you support it. so remove it if you disagree with it.

I am not a totalitarian ruler. I like teams.

Remember I'm not even the only admin here.

I don't think I was a part of that discussion, and it'd be pretty unethical to remove your violation just because of this discussion right now imo

every mod claims that they did not give the vio. So it was just laurie who supported that vio. I even have the mod group chat log to support that claim of mine. It was all laurie. if you have any sense of righteousness then remove that vio. every mod i talked to said that they didnt agree. and that it was others.

I've dealt with enough harassment stuff tonight, I'm not removing your violation. I had nothing to do with that one.

Also I am never going to work for an idiot like you who gave me a harassment vio for finding a cheater and providing hard evidence supporting it. Hard evidence as in chat logs of skype matching the timestamp of the game.

I don't recall giving you a harassment vio, get your facts straight please.

then remove my vio. https://epicmafia.com/report/99491. and absolutely no cheater will ever escape on epicmafia ever.
