Might be egotistic but I think I was one of the first people to start doing it after watching lullu do it once. The puppy test is a test that comes into handy when you have a difficult hammer to make as the only clear. Firstly, you ask someone if they like puppies or not. Ask very nicely and politely using smiley faces to make it seem like they're on your good side.
Maf tend to take advantage of that and say something like "I love puppies!" or "of course! Puppies are awesome". Their behaviour changes from their usual tone. Coax them into it by making up stories about your (fake) puppy and agreeing with what they say. If they suck up to you, they're probably maf.
Town tends to be a lot more tense and confused with the situation and answers in passive tones. They aren't afraid to tell the truth. Their answers are more like "no" or "not especially" or "what is this for?". Try to coax them into giving more information by ...
