Noavi kick day (9th May)

about 5 years

This is a proposition to the mod team that I and hopefully a few others, will be dedicating the day to kicking noavis from games, plus it will be my EM birthday.

Noavis afk during the game and have no sympathy for players with avatars, the times I've had to sit during the night to wait to see if the noavis veg is beyond belief.

Noavis can avoid a kicking from simply getting an avatar. It's a simple rule, noavi = no game. If people wish to extend this for a greater period then I see no fault in that. I try and give them a chance when I host but they go afk in pregame. But for this entire day, whilst I have the rainbow text on, all noavis in my games will be instantly kicked.

If you are a noavi reading this. Go here https://epicmafia.com/user/edit otherwise don't complain about it on the day.

Hugs and Kisses all.

Ted "Great pro here" Tonate.

I will be kicking noavis from games on this day.

i will update these stats every game i play and report about it weekly in my newspaper. My main aim is to prove that if you teach an non avatared user how to get an avatar they will get one but ill let other ppl do the math and statistic caculations ill just bring togetehr the data

From now on I will make a google sheet and will write down
The ppl who veggie
The ppl who sui
The no avi who veggie
The no avi who sui
The no avis who get an avatar after I tell them how to.

I will get back to u once I collectenough data

Don't forget to source your games, and calculate at which rate vegs and suis more (bc the numbers on which group vegs and suis more wont mean much on its own. ofc avis are going to veg more, as there are more of them)

If I were a more proactive person I would probably advocate for banning people like TedTonate here. As Alyssa points out: majority of noavis are new users and as Shayne has pointed out in the suggestions discord, EM is not an intuitive website for new users.

Here's the skinny: old users don't pull in as much for EM and kicking new users only serves to damage the website's growth; furthermore, if you actually believe EM shouldn't grow then 1) turn on Adblock and 2) log out you moron. Otherwise mods should just ban you for trying to sabotage the website. Even if you don't like noavis (hahaha funny meme grow up lol) you can always do what Shayne does and teach them how to get an avatar.

i can anecdotally prove without a doubt that noavis veg more often but that's not really their own fault, no one told them any better

Roxy, can you post your statistical evidence?
about 5 years
Statistics show that users with avatars veggie more often than non avatared users but they dont get kicked. Even though we veggie k owing full well how mechanics work.

psy mentions it in their meme but main lobby primarily hosts ranked games, you need to play like 5 unranked to be able to play ranked, and they obviously don't know that sandbox has a lot more role information to learn the game than sandbox does. Again, this is an issue about new users, not noavis, so they'd understandably be confused about the entire situation and not know that it's harder to start in sandbox and isn't the classic mafia experience that the site was made for.

Giving an exact % is a weird choice, however, it's hard to tell how many noavis actually veg or not besides from memory(again, there is an issue of confirmation bias here- you will notice a noavi vegging far more than you would regulars on the site because noavis are seen as the problem.), I did concede that they do veg far more often because they do, in fact, may not know how the site works, and again, getting an avatar doesn't enhance their knowledge of how the site works, ultimately policy or kicking doesn't give a solution. Being patient does.

And yeah I... said in my previous post it's your games and you can do what you want with your games? No one's stopping you;

You can kick whoever you want from your games since they're yours I just feel it's a silly idea.

When it comes down to it I don't care what you do in your games I just feel that negative attitudes towards new users on the forums and in games certainly isn't helping the site and I'm willing to voice my stance on the issue, which is why I'm here

If they are not familiar with the mechanics of the game, why go to a sandbox game which will have 50+ roles in any given setup that they have no clue about than a setup in main that has 3 villagers, 2 mafia, cop and a doc/gunsmith/bomb/oracle in? At the start of each night, it shows what that role does, so they have no excuse to say "I don't know what fabricator does", (that's if they even make it to D1 or even talk during N1.)

I say 85% of the time because chances are they will get a role that has no actions at night and they live till D1. I have done my fair share of helping noavis in the past, but when the site doesn't even help them, you just have to wonder why to carry on. I even made a link that guides them to the settings to change their avatar, so we'll see how many will use that by the day.

And finally, if I can kick whoever I want from the games, why should you care, they are games that I host and if I don't want noavis in the game, I'll kick them, just like you would if you wanted some friends that didn't get into the game
about 5 years
As I said before, if they don't like the kicks and the D1 policies, go to main. Because 9th May will be a lot tougher for them when I and others that support this are hosting.
You act as if noavis are a race or one entity.
No avis are users who just made an account. Individuals.
The no avis in that game now ALL have an avatar. One of them is now on my friend's list.
All the players that I have helped get an avatar or now ppl I have fun playing games with. Of course they veggie. Even normal users veggie sometimes because a role requires more actions than they did by accident. I mean sht half the active user base veggies on a daily basis and suis just because its not a role they like. We even sui for rui because memes. So whats the end of the world of a new user who doesnt know the game mechanics vegging and suiciding. Instead of kicking them explain to them the basic mechanics.
The LEAST You can do is explain to them what the heck a no avi is. Wtf is an avi its not even English. If you hAvethe energy to kick and lynch and spam policy you have the energy to type out "get an avatar"
AND EVEN IF they said "why.? I don't wanna" I explain that they will he discriminated against plus no avatar = no personality . Some say "ill get one soon or after this game" some just dont and thats ok thats only like less than aa handful.
I made my discord server because one day when the website was dead, 4 no avis turned up to my game. I wanted to walk them through the mechanics so I made the server linked them and two of them joined. Those two became my friends on this website and the other two got avatars by the end of the day and ive seen them in main and sandbox from time to time.
All because I wasnt a dik to a newbie for not haveing an avatar because thats the default setting on the website how bout that
The community is not shrinking, it shrunk due to EU changes and site closing down for some time. There are many new faces on this website that have gotten an avatar on their own accord without guidance from people in game.

The fact of the matter is when there is a noavi in game, 85% of the time they will veg before D1 has even started, now if this was main, you'd be pretty upset too, after spending time creating a game, waiting for it to fill, only for the player to veg or not participate in the game at all.

Most people that are disliking this post have at some point in the past jumped on the policy bandwagon without a care in the world because they wanted the day to end. Now it's only just recently that people are showing care for noavis are banding alongside players with avatars that they have policied in the past before.

Also I'd like to mention the EU thing was a huge issue, but the community's size was already an on-going issue for a while, this just worsened the issue to an extreme.
