I was totally against implementing VP into the game even as 3rd party role, but town-sided is even worse: people may now lynch presidents as VP would insist on that, they'll confirm themselves as town as well.
Trying to get president lynched isn't GT if it's your win condition.

I think you're missing the point of the role. You're supposed to underhandedly get the president killed while not revealing who you are in the process. There should be some strategy involved.
SS is a completely balanced setup with roles that have been established for years try again!!!!
