Lucid, don't let EpicMafia DIE!!

over 6 years

UPDATE: OMG WE DID IT!!

EpicMafia is back for Europe!!

Thank you everybody (lucid, the mods, the community) who took care of the problem or simply just invited friends to support the website.

Love you guys, cya ingame :)

=============

Lucid i hope you're seriously not going to ban European players from playing!!

I've been here since early stages of the website and i don't expect to be kicked off for no reason or because you're too lazy to fix a thing or two on the website :(

8 years of playing, meeting friends, having EPIC memories and fun moments. All of that could disappear because some admin is too lazy to write up a privacy policy script.

I refuse to let it go and quit that way. This is not fair. We, regular players, don't deserve this after all those years invested in here!!

We like this place, and i'm willing to rebuy the website with people if it is possible since you're going to let it die slowly.

I really hope this isn't the end of Epicmafia for me. Stay tuned.

(and YES, i'm using a VPN to come play atm)

I heard he is working with a lawyer about this so don’t worry Epic it’ll work out it’ll just take some time. It’s cool you care so deeply abt it but don’t even stress

Are you trolling me or...? I thought Lucid didn't care anymore about it?

If epicmafia dies can we all migrate to your minecraft server?

The Minecraft server stills alive (2 years now) and i'm working on it (60% completed).

When it'll be done i'll make a thread about it here.

Here's a preview of what you can expect:

Stay tuned.

**But for now, let's focus on bringing back EpicMafia to life!!**

The website may require few improvements, but i'm sure we can figure this out with some members of the community.

Some of them made amazing scripts like Emjack so i'm sure that if we sort this out together we can make few tweaks to be compatible with the GDPR.

Let's be serious for a minute. The EU ain't going to fine 10m a random US mafia game website!!

All of this started with Facebook and all these big companies who took advantage of data collecting.

We're talking about playing a game on a browser, not making another social media page!!

Also, millions of websites didn't do anything about it and still, EU can keep browsing them.

What i mean is that we don't have to respect the GDPR 100%, we just have to adapt the website to the new GDPR policy, but not necessarily doing too much about it since it's a "small website" without that much of data collecting compared to snapchat or instagram...

If players are willing to don't let die the website, and are willing to work together, i'm sure we can find a solution to make it work.

This is in response to your chatbox post about the privacy policy being the thing he is doing this over.

Lucid would have to do a lot more than just change a privacy policy to comply with GDPR which is why he's being so inactive about it and a bunch of older things decided to either shut down entirely or ban EU members. He'd also have to:

* Make a consent form in simple language to having data collected.

* A way to remove consent from having data collected as easy to change as it is to give it.

* Create a page that allows users to find out what data is being collected on them, where, and for what purpose.

* Allow a user to retrieve a copy of their data that the site has on them in a readable electronic format.

* Switch to a privacy by design format, i.e. implementing private profiles that are on by default to hide your stats/information and don't default to collecting data without consent.

If anyone bought the website you'd have to implement that all on top of Lucid's code (or face very high EU fines the instant anyone reports you to the EU - mind the lowest penalty for a small website like this is 10 million euros) so good luck with that when he can't even figure out why sui breaks the game for 10 years.
