So I have to find a mashup of two songs both relating to heartbreaks? Then possibly find the instrumental if I don't want to sing it acapella?

or find any instrumental and make it work with two or more songs on heartbreak, or use an instrumental for just one of the heartbreak songs ur singing and sing multiple songs to the same instrumental

imo you dont need to produce a backing track urself if you dont know where to start, if you can use one backing track and sing a couple different songs with it you should be alright.
e.g: ariana grandes mashup of two songs featuring just one generally consistent background track that worked with both songs - https://youtu.be/lWtCdee7gS4?t=17s

if you want to try acapella you could always attempt something like what they do on pitch perfect which isn't easy by any means but could produce a good effect. using audio layovers would be necessary.
e.g. this is with more than one person but totally doable alone and u dont need to do as many sound effects if its too hard for you - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQwFG6AB-HA

i think u shoud just try one or two things out and see how you get along then when u figured out what you want to do u can ask for confirmation but as long as u got 2 or more songs mixed up in one go it should be ok.

Making a mashup like the one you posted involves composition and some music theory knowledge, it's not just singing two songs (also, another singer is involved). And the one posted by Nat is the work of a producer, not a singer. I love the idea, but don't really understand how we're expected to engage it.

Yeah, I would like some clarification of the rules involving the mashup twist. Do I download an "All Star" instrumental and sing unrelated lyrics over it? What if I submit an acapella? Is it just me singing a few unrelated chunks of different songs?

On a separate note, thanks to the honorable judges for pretending I didn't sound godawful last week. I had a throat infection so my musical shitposting was severely hurt.

How to do a mashup as, a singer? xD

Sing multiple songs in same/different takes with different/combined music.

Also, as the judges can probably tell by now, I am doing this for fun with no experience whatsoever. It is an honor to be up against people that are way better than I am, and I am hoping I can improve myself because of this competition.
