In sixth place, with a score of 0 (busted round 4) Scott!
In fifth place, with a score of 12.. Agus!
In fourth place, with a score of 27.. Calin!
In third place, with a score of 125.. Anthony!
Which means either Jake or Jayden have won the Power of Veto… In second place, with a score of 240 compared to 384.. Jake!
Congratulations, Jayden, you have won the Power of Veto! You have until 8PM EDT tomorrow to submit whether you will save yourself or Calin as well as a speech. Anthony, as HoH, you must submit a renomination and a speech in case the Veto is used.
Today’s competition will be… Three Card Poker. Each round, you will be given a hand. If your hand beats the dealer’s hand, you win the bet. Everyone will get the same hands and the dealer will also use the same hands against you, which means everything is predetermined.
The only difference will be how much you bet each round. Whoever ends up with the most chips after all the rounds have been played will win the Power of Veto.
You all start with 10 chips. Once you place all the bets for all the hands, we will run the simulation one hand at a time. So for instance, in the first hand, if you bet 5 chips and win, you’ll have 15 chips for the second hand. Since you place all your bets at once, you won’t know how many chips you’ll have in the future rounds. Therefore, you’re allowed to make bets such as “I bet half my stack” or “I bet everything except for 1 chip”.
The reshuffle signifies that the dealer is now using a new set of cards.
Now you just need to know what hands win and what hands don’t.
Rankings
Three of a Kind - Your three cards are the same. If both have this, then the stronger 3 of a kind will win. AAA is strongest, then KKK, QQQ, etc.
Straight - Your cards follow in a sequence. If both have this, then the stronger straight wins. QKA is strongest, then JQK, 10JQ, all the way down to A23. Note that KA2 does not make a straight, and that the cards don’t necessarily need to be in order for it to count as a straight.
Pair - You have a pair in your hand. If both have this, then the highest pair wins. For instance, 838 is a stronger pair than 22K. If both have the same pair, then the highest kicker wins. For instance, JJQ is stronger than 7JJ.
High Card - You don’t have anything, in which case your highest card will be used. If both have the same high card, then we go to the second highest to break the tie, and then 3rd highest if necessary. Ace is the highest card while 2 is the lowest.
You are totally overwhelmed, sitting in the centre of what seems to be a moving ocean of playing cards. Your vision blurs with flashes of numbers and symbols as the cards march by, and you try to focus on one card to steady yourself. This fails, so you stare hard at the ground, ignoring the feeling of the steady vibrations. You peer around and notice that what was once a lush ground covered with flowers and grass is now nothing more than a patch of dirt and mud. The playing cards with sheer numbers have destroyed this land. You compare this situation to the game. Perhaps it’s time to choose. Are you going to be the playing cards, steamrolling through and destroying everything in your wake? Or will you be the obstacles, resolute in your position and unwavering in your decisions?
Suddenly, the mass of movement halts, and you peer cautiously up from the ground. The playing cards appear frozen, their stiff postures making you question whether they are animate at all. The playing cards suddenly move as one to turn and face you before you hear a sudden and distinct shriek: “WE CHALLENGE YOU!” Before you can comprehend this, the cards whirl into a flurry of motion, running around one another in a disorganised chaos. Before you can question this, a card jumps to the ground before you, lying face down. Instantly, a card lands upon his back, and within seconds the rest of the cards are lying down forming a perfect deck of cards. It seems as though they want to play!
