I've always journaled my thoughts privately, but I really like how other people share their days on here, and I think it could be nice for me to do, too. So this is something of a diary for me to look back on. I update when I can or I think to, and I thumbs up a comment once I've read it.
I've been home awhile. I'm in large house with my family, my two kittens are healthy and just turned one year old, and I've been working in an optometrist's office doing medical billing and coding for months now.
I play a lot of League of Legends still, and I taught myself how to sew/use a sewing machine. I met three new friends (a giant feat for me, as I haven't made new friends since 10th grade, due to me... honestly being sad and a flake), and have been going to swing dancing classes with them, late night Denny's trips. I met them at an anime convention, and found out they lived five-twenty minutes away from me.
I'm still dating my boyfriend, but now I'm also dating a girl as well. All parties involved are okay with it, and they're not dating each other -- I'm just dating both of them. It's fulfilling and yes, of course, communication is the most important part.
I got my own insurance, and soon I'm hoping to go back into therapy. I need it badly lately, but I have loving people around me to make sure I don't get too bad.
I'm still so fond of my memories and friendships here on this site, especially long vivor games that I used my hotel work computer to play while checking guests in on incognito.
I bought an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil to draw with, and I have been so much happier about art and creating because of it. It's a godsend, and I take it everywhere.
I'm sure there's dozens of things I'm forgetting, but that's it for now. My discord is now mary#8442 <3
The announcement came quickly, only last week, but on the morning of the 13th I'll be boarding a plane to Washington to go to a hotel for a few weeks while my family looks at houses.
I am beyond relieved, and so excited to see my friends, my family, eat familiar foods, see familiar things, smell rain. Our house is about 70% packed up, I got my emotional support animal paperwork for my cats filled out on Friday by my doctor and my vet, and the last big things in my room I need to pack up are my bed, my desk with my PC, and my TV with my PS4. Everything else (clothes, bedding, beauty products, trinkets, books, shoes, etc) is in boxes already.
Thank you for listening, as always. You can always reach me on my discord, as well -- it's Mary#7026.
Oh, also, that coworker I hate (Polly, I think I called her), got fired for stealing money. It's been a wild few weeks.
I'm going back home in a week, for a week. I'm tired, and a lot has been going on, but I have my kittens and my friends and a heated blanket, so everything will be okay.
I have been busy lately, but I felt the urge to come and write something, even if it's brief.
The kittens are growing so quickly, and getting big and strong. It's so lovely seeing them healthy, and they have helped my mental health so much already. I will be getting them registered as emotional support animals with my doctor, as that's exactly what they are for me. I have no friends here, and some days I would not get out of bed at all if not to feed and pet my kittens. Right now they are sunbathing on their cat tree perches.
With them being emotional support animals, flying on an airplane will not cost anything, and landlords cannot turn you away for having animals. Which brings me to my next bit of news: we're moving back to Washington. I've been so sad here, and my entire family has too. We tried it out, and we decided that in June we're moving back, after my brothers' school year is over. I'm so excited to be back home, and now I can think of this as a deployment (we were deployed a lot for the Army when I was younger) and not a permanent thing.
My best friend visited for a week, and it was magical. We went to the Renaissance Faire and to a waterpark, and did a lot of other things. I miss her every day, and I'm really glad I got to see her.
My birthday was yesterday, the sixth. I turned 21, so I drank a bit for the first time (I know, rule follower Mary) and it was fun and interesting, I was sleepy and giddy. I didn't get anything for my birthday, because most of my friends and family aren't in great financial situations, but I honestly don't mind. I napped and I played video games and I watched movies with my brothers. It was relaxing and felt like any other day, but with alcohol. I guess that's what growing up is.
Now I'm going to go back to sleep, because I took my use-it-or-lose-it personal day from work today, so I could have a 3 day weekend. Have a good weekend everyone. (:
I picked up my kittens yesterday, and they're asleep in each of my arms, so typing this is very difficult and taking three times the regular amount of time it would take. Freya loves to play, and loves to cuddle. Rosie is temperamental and is fussy, but she's playing hard to get. I'm so happy and so in love with them.
Albeit it's not my pet (it's my friend's), I thought I'd share a smol anecdote. My friend has a cat named Cheshire, his top of the body is Black and bottom is White. (He's shy and grumpy, we didn't get along when I first met him. I tried getting close to him but every time I thought we got close, he tried munching my hand off. Eventually I got to a point where I was like "I'll accept we'll never be friends". But after 3 years of slowly building a slow and steady relationship, he finally sat in my lap willingly for the first time without being forced by my friend and accepted cuddles from me. T'was a proud moment for me.)
Anyway, a few weeks ago I had gone to see my friend, and after spending almost the entire day at her house (only us two and Mr. Cheshire, her parents were out), it was about time I was leaving. As I wouldn't be seeing her for awhile, we were talking by the entrance door (it was open and I was standing outside talking to her). In front of her house, there's this huge cart right next to the bushes and in front of the wall connected to the entrance fence which was locked into place by her dad and it's heavy as hell.
So while we were talking, Mr. Cheshire decides it's a good time to run out and sit right in the furthest corner of the cart right by the wall and bushes. So me and my friend spent 30 mins trying to get back him by bribing him with toy mouses, food, catnip and dangly things. Finally he felt hungry enough to fall for the food bait and come back in. It was a memorable way to end the day (:
I decided on the name Freya for the other kitten -- Freya and Rosie. My mom hates both names, but I like them, and that's all that really matters. It's not like her suggestions (Katniss, Gretel, and Clover being her top three contenders) were appealing.
I get to visit them this Sunday, and thankfully I have tomorrow off from work. It's still so hot here, and since my room is the attic, the sun beats down on the roof and no amount of AC really disguises it. I feel like a giant whiny baby because I'm not used to this at all, and miss my rainy, cloudy and crisp weather, even when though it freezes you to the bone.
I've been sleeping a lot, and having issues with my eating disorder rearing its ugly head the past few weeks. Other than that, everything is normal and calm. Though I am planning a trip to New York and to the Renaissance Faire this summer, so that's fun to think about.
Okay I survived the heat wave with these instructions, and it was less than optimal, but I'm alive so I'll take it. I have gone through a lot of gatorade the last week, and many naps beside a fan.
The kittens went to the vet today, and we found out Nico is a girl, so I'll be picking out a new name, because I don't think it's fair to her if her sister's name is Rosie and hers is Nicolai still. So the hunt continues...
I have tomorrow off of work, so I'm going to go see the Incredibles 2 and relax. My best friend is in Mexico for two weeks visiting family. They live in a tiny, poor village, with no reception and no wifi, so I won't hear from her until next month. However, she's visiting me in early August! She already has the tickets.
That's my update for now, however small! I'm going to go take another nap and scroll through cat pictures.
Other than that, I've just been going to work daily, and resting. I recently bought Horizon Zero Dawn (which is quickly becoming my new favorite game, which I didn't expect) and Detroit: Become Human for the PS4.
My tummy hurts and I'm snacking on chips and it's 90 degrees with really high humidity. Washington doesn't get this humid, so I'm not used to it, and... I hate it. How do people deal with this, other than ACs and minimal clothing...
I've decided upon the names Rosie and Nicolai for the kittens, and I've chosen the kittens from the litters as well. They're 5 weeks old now, which means we're halfway there. I built a 5.5 foot tall cat tree this weekend for them, which took me a bit longer than an hour to put together. I've never built anything in my life before, because my dad is the handyman of the house, so I was confused at first but got the hang of it quickly. It was kind of fun, actually, stumbling through it. I have to move it a bit before they arrive, because currently it's very close to my TV, and if they choose, they could pounce right on it and knock it off my dresser, which would likely shatter it or something.
Rosie is a Ragdoll. For those of you who don't know how these cats colorations are named, which I guess is most of you, because I surely didn't until I read many many articles on it, here is what her colorations are classified as: blue mink (blue = light grey, mink = all over, so she is light grey all over) bicolor (the fur around her eyes will be darker, like eyeshadow almost) with a blaze (a white streak on the nose/center of face area) and mittens (white paws). Blue mink bicolor with a blaze and mittens.
Nicolai is a Ragamese. His mother is a Siamese, and his father is a Ragdoll. He is a lot more simple, as he is what you call a seal point. The whole body is white or cream colored, and the 'points' of the body (ears, nose/center of face area, feet, and tail) are dark brown.
I'll post pictures when they're a bit older, because they still kind of look like little aliens at this stage, but they're getting there. They're weaning right now, and just learning how to play and explore. I'm very excited.
It's very late (and two hours past my bedtime, which I've set for myself because I have to wake up at 6am every morning...) and I'm about to sleep, but I wanted to reach out and thank everyone who has commented to me, but also to the people who thumbs up my post to let me know they read it, and even to the people who read or skim my posts. It helps me think through things and come back to these writings later, because I have a horrible memory.
I'll show pictures of the prospective kittens once they're a bit older, as right now they look more like little furry rats and less like kittens. Tomorrow is Friday, and I have the weekend off, and I get paid soon. I'm likely going to, after I disinfect my room thoroughly, buy and put together a giant cat tree for the little ones. Serena loved climbing more than I thought a ragdoll kitten would, which was foolish of me, because they're, well, kittens. I have a lot of furniture in my room that I personally bought and is quite kitten-prone to being scratched up (faux-leather and cloth ottoman) so hopefully they take to it.
I'm rambling at this point, and I have a headache, and I'm dreading going to work tomorrow because I have a coworker who we will call Polly who I despise. We'll get into her on another day. However, I'm having a baked potato tomorrow for lunch, so not all is lost. Eat a vegetable everyone, and goodnight.
Gosh she was so cute, really sorry for your loss Marry.
As for the new kittens I like the names you have, but I also have faith you'll have better soon! :D As much as I love the idea of you showing us pictures of the tiny 3-week old creatures, I understand if you can't.
The breeder I got Serena from is gifting me a second kitten along with the next one, so they'll go home together, as littermates. I'm unsure of what colorations I want, as the blue point mitted was what Serena was, and I'm not looking to replace her at all. So I have first pick of about 17 kittens who are all beautiful, but currently I'm looking at a girl with a blaze of white on her nose, and a boy with a white body and orange tail. I'd love name suggestions -- I love regal sounding names, and classic ones. Currently I'm liking Rosie and Ophelia for the girl, and Nikolai/Nicolai (spelling suggestions?) and Perseus/Percy for the boy.
Currently the kittens are about 3 weeks old, and will be going home at 10 weeks old. Serena went home at 8 weeks, and had she gone home at 9 or 10 weeks, she might have had the immunity from her cat mom to fight off the panleukopenia, might have not contracted it from traveling (if that's where she got it), etc. It's just safer to keep the kittens with their mother longer than 8 weeks in general, however, Serena went to the vet the day I got her and was tested for everything and cleared, shots and all. Where and how she got the panleukopenia is unknown.
So I have about 7 weeks until the little paws are in my house again.
It's been a few days of grief and processing. I've never had anyone close to me, or anyone in the family, die. Not anyone, ever. So having something that was as close as I could get to a child, something I planned for months for and bought things for and prepped my room like a nursery, my kitten felt like a child to me. Because panleukopenia is so contagious and fatal, I have to bleach and disinfect everything in my room (the only room she was in) thoroughly, many times. All of her toys have to be thrown out because they're cloth/feathers/etc materials and can't be sure they're not infected, though I'm just going to put them in a box in storage because I don't want to just throw them out. Her ID tag is on my lanyard now, because she never got to wear it because it was too heavy and big for her. I feel sluggish and so, so sad, but she's out of pain now and I gave her all the attention she could ever want while she was with me.
