Suggestion regarding reports

deletedabout 7 years

Introduction
As of now, most (if not all moderators) provide no reason at all when they violate or no-violate a player.

Why should this be changed?
It is quite obvious what power the moderators is given by basically letting them do what they want without even giving an explanation why they took a certain measurement. Namely:

  • Favor friends and moderators
  • Disadvantage people they do not like
  • Manipulate the competitive play

What are possible disadvantages?
The only disadvantage I found so far is that mods have to put greater effort into dealing with reports. And with "greater" I mean appending one (!) more sentence that explains why one has taken that measurement. It shouldn't be much of an issue because a moderator clearly knows why they violate a player, they just need to write down their thoughts about it :)

Can we, vanilla users, change anything about it?
Perhaps. If there is a wide range of players who would wish to apply such a change to moderating rules, they might as well think about doing so. For this purpose, I have created a little poll in which you can have your voice about this matter.

I wouldn't say it doesn't exist, everyone has their bias, if anything it's not as bad as everyone says it is.

I have been active on this site since 2010, I know quite a few stories concerning the moderator team here. And you want to tell me mod corruption never was a thing?
Putting that aside, what's the great disadvantage of the measurement I mentioned in my post? You need to understand it isn't about mod corruption or not, it is to improve this site in order for the users to feel comfortable with _it and the team_.
I can't understand those "No"-voters, tbh.

if you don't know why a mod gave a particular ruling you can always just shoot them a private message asking them

although when its obvious grs/ other things like that, it could be a bit redundant. however in cases with GT i can see how this would be beneficial

This is somewhat already a thing however not really used, under Moderator actions they have the power to add notes to any actions they do. I definitely think this should be enforce however, it can help new players learn from their mistakes instead of questioning what went wrong. This could also help lower some of the "mods are corrupt" stigma everyone seems to have whenever they get vio'd.
