The Homeless Gospel Choir - With God on Our Side

this guy's got that really whiny generic pop punk voice that i dislike a lot. really kills the song for me. i'd like it a lot more with a different vocalist. 4

Against Me! - Walking Is Still Honest

i've heard of these guys because of the singer's transition, but i've never actually listened to music. another instance where i don't really like the vocals, they're too aggressive and rough imo. like this more than the other one, but i still don't enjoy it that much. 5

Crass - Systematic Death

this is a bit more like it. the vocals are way too low in the mix but it's a fun, bouncy song. good stuff. 7

i will fogrgive for saying such terrible things as full band arrangement cause u r nice, the most folk punk thing is naming ur band with orchestra and being a one man band eg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeCcZccLZrk

but ok... a folk punk B A N D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-atPgNwFP10

and this one is weird but i fell compelled to post this band since they r the origin of all folk punk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHH54FYISTY

soundcloud's absolutely fine!

Corporate Hearts - Hex

i dunno about this one. the vocals are great, but it could've REALLY done with a full band arrangement. just feels underproduced as it is. 5

Toxik - There Stood The Fence

LOOK AT THAT HAIR. 8

Heathen - Prisoners of Fate

yeah, i don't know. a lot of it goes too heavy for my liking. the guitar solos are nice but it's not the kind of thing i can imagine listening to again. 5

Metallica - Mama Said

woah this is interesting...country-metal hybrid? i actually dont mind a bit of country so this is pretty cool. 7

@xiuxiufunnymoments (again)

Echo & the Bunnymen - The Back of Love

yeah not too hot on the vocals again (and i suppose this is hypocritical considering i like xiu xiu but nonetheless) but this time it's backed by a really solid and intense tune which makes up for it. i like the production. 6

Xiu Xiu - Vulture Piano

definitely one of the strangest bands operating right now. an interesting fusion of electronic indie music and noise rock. sometimes, jamie stewart's vocals works absolutely horribly with his song but with songs like this and a lot of xiu xiu's discography that are a bit melodramatic it suits it well. 7

do you even pitchfork

also assuming you didn't link that song for a joke (i hope not):

this is really cool. ahead of its time. his voice has a weird character to it but he can hit the notes. didn't basement jaxx sample this? very cool. will revisit. 8

tycho - division

some really nice post-rock and idm influences on this one. a really nice interpretation of both genres that uses electronic and more natural(?) instrumentals very well, it really hits that balance. i can definitely see myself revisiting this and checking out more of tycho. 8

koloto - mechanica

this really reminded me of the game And Yet It Moves, which is a great thing. some cool oval-esque glitchwork going on here and the whole corrupted music box vibe serves it well. 7

acid work - C=299,792,458 m/s_0.16ns

hmm. not sure about this one. it's a great atmosphere and the minimalism is lovely but nothing really...happens? it's very sparse in its composition for a 3 1/2 minute long song. 5

hot sugar - huffing paint

i don't really like trap so the sections of the song that were influenced by that were a bit of a disappointment for me, especially considering how strong the start of the song was. 6

cornelius - brazil

hm. very strange song here. getting some autechre vibes from the production and the daft punk influence is very apparent. it's very chill, naturalistic idm, almost tropical in nature. i like it. 7

alright then i'm back with some more ambient-ish electronica (i'm using a very loose definition here meaning that half of this isn't really ambient at all but oh well)

Hi everyone, Yellowtony Peartano here. The internet's busiest music nerd - and it's time for a review of the new playlist by eljolto, "important videos."

eljolto is a previously underground memer, whose video "full files" was received very well in television meme circles, but it's looking like he might finally break into the mainstream with this new playlist. This is a very long playlist, over two hours long, and while it is peppered with slightly longer cuts like Heavy Rain Glitch and John Cena Prank Call, the majority of the playlist is comprised of many short and varied cuts, which makes sure the playlist isn't days long and uses a variety of different styles. In fact, while full files used a laid back and happy, if slightly unsettling vibe, important videos makes some very bold adventurous creative and stylistic choices. The playlist actually samples Death Grips on "itgoesitgoesitgoesitgoesitgoesitgoes" and The Ying Yang Twins on "Ainsley Harriott has a secret">

important videos is a bold, experimental and challenging playlist full of masterpieces, and while it may drag on a little too long it's definitely worth your time. I'm feeling a strong 9 to a 10 on this playlist. TRANS

SITION what did you think of this playlist? Did you love it? Did you hate it? What would you rate it? You're the best, you're the best. Leave a like if you enjoyed. Anthony Fantano. important videos. Forever.

Equal Rights - The Lonely Island (feat. Pink)

I've always enjoyed The Lonely Island as a very surreal, absurd p isstake of the modern pop industry, and it makes it even better that a lot of pop stars are in on the joke. i haven't seen popstar but this makes me want to. 7

The Lonely Island - Finest Girl

i'd heard this one already and i didn't really like it. the joke is WAY too late and it's not executed that well, it doesn't have the same shock value D ick In A Box, for example, had because it doesn't build up to the reveal of the bin Laden metaphor at all. didn't laugh. 5

The Lonely Island - F**k Off

And we're back to quality. The "Be good to each other!" makes it. 7

Pat 'The Bunny' Schneeweis - I'm not a good person

this kinda reminds me of daniel johnston except this guy can actually play guitar. never thought somebody would actually pull off folk punk. very uplifting and heartbreaking at the same, the juxtaposition between the instrumental and the vocals is very interesting and strange. love it. 8

12 Rods - Chromatically Declining Me

didn't like this too much. the production is very messy and a bit dated. 3

They Might Be Giants - Purple Toupee

I've listened to some They Might Be Giants in the past (Join Us and Album Raises New And Troubling Questions are favourites) but never the Lincoln album. Very silly pop-rock that doesn't take itself too seriously. Not too hot on the percussion but the rest of the song is great. 7

Fugazi - Nice New Outfit

this is the kind of song that i imagine 20 year olds who are going through their indie phase enjoying. bit too pop punk for me, and the vocalist can't sing. 3

Teenage Fanclub - God Knows It's True

some quite standard 90s indie here, which is perfectly fine because i love that kind of music. not quite as squeaky clean as a lot of britpop which helps give it a bit of an edge. nice. 7

Guided By Voices - I Am A Scientist

the production makes this song seem a bit skeletal, but i think it does the song some good here. it would sound a bit cheesy if it was overproduced and made seem "mainstream." lyrics don't flow very well but the bloke's voice is pretty decent. 7

Sebadoh - As the World Dies, the Eyes of God Grow Bigger

please stop screaming. 2

Codeine - Old Things

meh. this one staggers a little bit here and there and the vocalist is a bit carp. too slow and rigid. 5

@riskitforthebiscuit

If you're trying to get me into metal you did a bloody good job.

Iron Maiden - Hallowed be thy Name

Great song, really bombastic and ambitious. I'd call it epic. Really fantastic guitar work. 8

Led Zeppelin - When The Levee Breaks

I can see why they folded the band when Bonham died - those drums are fantastic! This song is very menacing and bluesy, really hits hard while not trashing. I've only listened to Physical Graffiti up until now but this makes me want to explore more of Led Zep's discography. Don't think it has to last as long as it does though. 7

Tool - Schism

My least favourite of what you posted. I love the experimentation with time signatures (6.5/8 !!) but it goes a bit too heavy at times for my liking and I'm not a huge fan of the lyrics. 6.5 (heh)
