send me some music recs and i'll rate them out of ten, average out the score and then put you all on a leaderboard to see who on epicmafia is the most patrician.
if you need any guidance i mostly listen to /mu/core but im open to anything except autotune-pop.
thanking you kindly,
oh yeah i do remember that, like 6 months ago nathan pretended to be you in mod chat i just thought that was actually you though, since nothing that was said was mean
i'm just gonna post this here since i deleted all my other threads and i'm not going to make a new one specifically for this since i'm not important or arrogant.
i'm informally quitting epicmafia. i might pop in for the occasional game every couple of months but i'm gonna try and remove myself from the community. i kept trying to persevere with the toxic community on this site but after seeing that even the mods are making fun of me and impersonating me behind my back i really can't be bothered anymore. it's gotten to the point where games aren't fun anymore and i've drifted away from most of the friends i've made on here. it's a shadow of what it used to be four years ago. so long.
Autechre's discography is a really mixed bag for me. They've got some albums that I personally think are among the greatest of all time (Tri Repetae, Oversteps), some that are a bit too tame (Incunabula) and some that take the experimentation a bit too far. Draft 7:30 is one of them. I can appreciate the work they were doing with glitch music at the time but this song isn't to my tastes that much, I prefer stuff like Goz Quarter or bladelores. Call me a pleb, I don't care. 5
I like The Beatles and The Beach Boys because of the interesting sonic textures and melodies, but neither of those are really present here. There's nothing that really sets it apart and I can't say I enjoyed it. 4
I couldn't stop thinking of how much this sounded like Stylophonia the entire song. It doesn't really progress or change in any way and it's aged really poorly. 4
Some cool noisy post punk here. Doesn't really outstay its welcome at just under 2:30, so it manages to carry itself based on the anger behind it. Good good. 6
i liked this a lot until the guitar melody came in, it REALLY doesn't fit well. is it even in the same key? has potential but doesn't use it well. 4
i've heard of grouper but never listened to them. this is pretty cool, a nice ambient-indie tune that takes a lot of cues from post-rock's quieter moments. the vocalist is nice and i like the effects on her voice. would've been cool if it built up to something but it's pretty as is. 7
i like the melody. not sure what's up with the drums, they sound very weird and too light. it's pretty typical 60s stuff and that's by no means a bad thing. cool! 7
i couldn't stop thinking "they're trying so hard to be joy division" throughout the entire song. it's good but it's not really anything special. 6
you could've picked any swans song! and you chose the one i actively hate! god damn it!
if you want something that sounds like this that's actually good, listen to King Of Snake by Underworld. this is crap and it really didn't need to be on Soundtracks. 2
hm. it's okay, i guess. the production's a bit thin for what it's trying to be. very strange. i think i like it but i'm not sure. 6
can is a band i've been very overdue on listening to, especially since i really like Holger Czukay's solo work and NEU. solid krautrock choon here, you can see how much of a precursor to post-punk it was. i like this a lot. might get into can more. 8
woah! this is strange! and i really like it! reminds me slightly of filth-era swans but i actually like this a lot more since it has some proper melody to it. nice fusion of noise rock and indie. awesome! 9
i liked the organ when it wasn't accompanied by anything else. the song's a bit messy and a lot cheesy in the second half, especially. i had a raised eyebrow the entire song. 4
i like this one a lot more! loved the buildup, and the more folky/acoustic influences were a really welcome addition. the explosion of noise at the end was really triumphant. really great! 9
I'm assuming this is part of a soundtrack for something? it's pretty chill but it doesn't really go anywhere, and i feel like it would be better in the context of the thing it's lifted from. 6
i've actually been familiar with andrew and this song for a while (my favourite by him is February). it's very impressive and i like the subject matter. the 15/8 time signature makes it seem a little off-kilter but i can't imagine a song where it wouldn't. 7
the drummer from The Police did the soundtrack for the first three Spyro games (two of which are my favourites of all time) and i'm definitely getting a lot of the same vibes here. the vocals trip up a bit at times but it's still a pretty good post punk song. i don't really like reggae so i'm glad the influences are less apparent here. 7
yeah, it's alright. the vocalist is very flamboyant, kinda reminded me of Freddie Mercury except with a heavy metal background. i'm not too hot on the drums but the rest of the song is pretty good. 7
i gotta be blunt, i didn't enjoy this. it's very death-y and constantly angry, and it's also trying to be very aggressive. does the guy have autotune on his voice? pretty meh. 4
