Mod Moderation System

almost 8 years

There needs to be a system in place that would allow mods to be properly measured in there ability to handle reports fairly and properly. I very much doubt that there is some one who consistently looks over every report and evaluates if mods are making the correct verdicts.

Why not implement a way to allow the community to "vote" on the end report verdicts and let the players decide if they believe the decision is fair or not. This would prevent any sort of mod abuse and allows the people who run the site an easy way to evaluate wether or not the mods are doing there job well. This also would be helpful for mods in the appeal process, as mods would be able to read the results and if the overwhelming majority of people believe the verdict given was incorrect, they know that the report needs to be reassessed.

One possible way to do this would be to implement a poll after a report decision has been made. Mods would still have the ultimate power in the final decision, but at least this way we give the community an easy route to help improve and monitor the site.

Do you believe this is good idea?

Lmfao so you want the mods to waste time checking all alts to see who is voting.

That should be the ability of role mods while they are not investigating cheating.
deletedalmost 8 years
Also most of the people will vote without reading or vote with their friends, what benefits them or yolo votes.

I know multiple people with more than 15 alts with high points.

Mods know alts of players...

and this is a terrible idea.

nah this is stupid

people would vote good for their friends and bad for people they don't like

which is exactly what we don't need

number 1 its a voting system, so unless they have 20+ with high enough scores to vote, other players should easily outweighs friends.

number 2 the final decision still stands with the mods, so if the mods see a clear indication of favoritism, then they can deal with that in there revaluation, there can easily be made consequences of those that abuse the system.

and then we would need a mod mod moderation system

No you wouldn't? This is a tool for both the mods and the community, I would think mods would want to make sure that there colleagues and themselves are doing an appropriate job. You understand how a democracy works? The only right that we as the community have is the freedom of speech which is nice and all, but we have no ability to actually make change, Mods can hear us whine all they want but they hold all the power and have no obligation to do anything about our requests, at least they can be held accountable with a system like this.

And I vote that the verdicts of all unpopular mods are wrong.

And thats why more then one opinion will be accounted for via vote. Experienced players who have dedicated a decent amount of time to the game are much less likely to make blatantly bias choices and should easily be the majority compared to those that choose to not use the system properly. There could also be a way to take away the voting privilege for those that abuse it, since it should be based off of score instead of any one being able to vote this should be limited.

this is where the thread should have ended, but I enjoyed reading it nonetheless.

They're not effective at all, as soon as the verdict is made, no one is going back to look at the comments this whole process should be taking place after the verdict has been given not during.

Doesn't this point contradict your entire argument for a poll or other post-verdict method of analysis?

No... This is the solution. The current post verdict system is ineffective, thats why there needs to be a change.

So your solution is make it a popularity contest and let the cool kids run everything?

You could just ask lucid to admin me, you know, we don't have to be so roundabout.

What does what i proposed have to do with popularity or favoritism? your voting on verdicts not people

There is absolutely no definitive way to make sure that mod team is running properly and fairly other then complaining and whining to them which accomplishes nothing. There needs to be a be a definitive way to accomplish this, Im welcome to more ideas but an voting system limited to experienced players (score) which would essentially remove any ability to abuse the system with alts seems like a viable solution.

there can easily be point minimum for people who vote which would avoid an influx of alt trolls

This is your best comment yet, but it still wouldn't work.

There's no surefire way to get the community involved more than they already are. Like I said, everyone is free to publicly or privately take up discussion with the mods if they are questioning a verdict.

Can you please give me examples of the mishandled reports while we're at it? This would be great to look at if they're truly wrong.

I just gave you a way. Mods aren't held accountable when there aren't actually facts that can back it up, with this idea there are clear statistics that can evaluate a mods performance. Otherwise its a persons word against another.

https://epicmafia.com/report/203582 - player clearly admits they're mafia with there partner and is given a no vio.

I honestly feel this was a mistake and not intentional, but this is a clear example of way an implementation that i have described needs to be implemented, mods don't always make the correct choices and there needs to be some one else other then the mods themselves that can monitor them; example being the community. Some one to CHECK the higher ups and make sure its BALANCED.
