I think it's really obvious in most cases if runners are choosing tables at random or linking their games to friends / playing at the same time as friends. It's not rocket science when u read the games to tell.
Playing with friends is fine. But play like me and brown does. Absolutely competitive. Complete lack or care for each other's trophies and complete focus on winning the game at whatever cost.
Basically, if you wanna win a second trophy in a row, you've got to go out of your way to be at tables with random people, or it's DQ'd.
Arcbell the consistency with which your ideas and visions for the site at large are reliably terrible is honestly impressive and in my book an 8th wonder of the world.

I have a cognitive bias towards the idea that you shouldn't play with your friends because yes this is can be a competitive game but it is also heavily social.
yes thats why we have different tiers of play so that you can pick which one you want, gold hearts arent for socializing and circlejerking your friends
i just find this line kind of funny because that's all competitive lobby was before it was canned
Brown literally hasn't played with friends this round unless you want to count me/pranay, I never played with the dude prior to this round and me/pranay have both been slapping him with the few losses he has.
Accusing me/Pranay of meta abusing for brown would be hilarious even if we hadn't.
I'm counting you and pranay. You've gotta play with like random people to win a 2nd in a row. That's the idea.

Pro sports league's don't change the rules in the middle of the playoffs brownnerd

what if someone removes someone from their friends list while they get their purple trophy? how will you know?
Obviously here's how it'd work:
If the mods know / strongly suspect two players to be friends (it'd also be evident from gameplay in most cases), they're considered "friends". Otherwise, not.
Most people don't like the idea of limiting friend play, but in the case of a second trophy in a row it makes a lot of sense.
No it doesn't.

You are only allowed to trophy a second round in a row if you don't play with friends at your table in more than 4 of your games. Friends as defined by common sense knowledge of the mod team.
That way it adds an extra layer of challenge and meaning to those who actually win a second trophy (spoiler: no one will win a second trophy)
If you want to give yourself another job and excuse to arbitrarily DQ people that aren't friends with moderators but are running a second round, sure.
Oh, and Brown already meets this requirement.

sounds like an extensive layer of making sure you don't meta abuse lol
There has been the proposal to limit how many times you play with your friends in gold hearts. A lot of people don't like that, but this could be a way to partially implement it to create 'rare trophies'

The original intent of the rule was not related to a singular person, rather many. It was put in place around the time meta/friend tables was so prominent that good players would just run with each other and stack trophy counts, but times have changed and I don't think that prominence is there anymore, therefore I think the rule should be reconsidered.
