I feel that this is slow setup to a homeworld earth war??? now that quartz is known to be alive and they can't cover it up any longer the diamonds are going straight for beach city. it'll be interesting to see how it goes.
blue diamond would be fun as a possible ally, definitely if Sapphire and steven tried to reason with her.
that's all just conspiracy, but it'd be truly amazing.
THE FLAMES OF REBELLION CANNOT BE QUENCHED AHHHHHHHHH
It is obviously a Jojo reference and Steven Universe is just a copy of Jojo

I guess it was trying to make build up for, well, this Ben. :o
Can't wait for the end of this month to see what happens next
(also I'm still curious why blue gems work for blue diamond and yellow for YD but then you have a huge variety of colors. Perhaps it is linked to how they are created?)
I mean the easiest retort is Lapis doesn't care. She was more bothered by Navy fitting in better then she was of a Ruby escaping.
I agree the other parts were dumb and just a big set-up for betrayal, but with how much Steven has done in getting gems to join his side it may even be that she trusts him enough to reform anyone(Lapis and Peridot both doing evil things could have been in her future vision before, remember), so really it was all on Steven in this episode to not be so gullible.
Also do the diamonds even care about Peridot's location? The rubies were sent there for Jasper, likely because of their supposed cluster was rapidly approaching. (I know location is valuable though, but with information recon it should be a cinch anyways. Numbers/firepower is what's important in this case.)
Oh and Sapphire really should have known better and Garnet acted really silly by leaving Steven alone with Ruby i.e. trusting Ruby completely (although it w a s kind of in character for her to let Steven experience things himself. Plus popping the red/Ruby's "Congratulations" bubble was kinda sweet).
tl;dr: I guess 7 seasons of PLL completely drained any sympathy for characters that showrunners make act in dumb ways.
Yes I do understand that. I'm just furious at her for not using her waterbending to catch Ruby's ship and instead taking the time to gloat about how she was correct.
But you are right:) The person I should hate in this episode is Steven and his infinite naivety. Like ugh I wanted to punch Ruby in the face because of how fake she was in her "Oh I love this planet and all of you guys!" And I don't really understand why Lapis never pointed out that she thought Ruby was scummy? Yes she did raise concerns over how easy it was for Ruby to adapt to her new environment, but never did it cross her mind that Ruby might be evil or sent here by the Diamonds or be able to plum the gems over in the future (which she will and I suppose this episode was a way to advance the plotline so that the Diamonds arrive on Earth because they now know where the gems live)? I just hate it when showmakers make the characters stupid just to have a situation like this (Ruby escaping and possibly informing the Diamonds) occur. Like you said, Lapis struggled so much to accept Earth so how on Earth (cheche) did she not be suspicious of Ruby?
