I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment's gone All my dreams pass before my eyes, a curiosity Dust in the wind All they are is dust in the wind
Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea All we do crumbles to the ground though we refuse to see Dust in the wind All we are is dust in the wind Oh, ho, ho
Now, don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky It slips away And all your money won't another minute buy Dust in the wind All we are is dust in the wind All we are is dust in the wind Dust in the wind Everything is dust in the wind Everything is dust in the wind The wind

Well. Everything except for when it came to finding the mafia.
also the afterlife is one of the very few big questions in life that we will all definitely get the answer to eventually, so i figure why stress about it. death will come to us all.

Whenever I see a thread like this, I sit back and think to myself "Man. Kyle was right about everything."
Though my serious opinion is that there is no specific "god" so to speak. I believe in the power of the universe. More specifically, I see it as simultaneously being a chaotic and ordered power. I do not believe it is a sentient being, but rather just a source of power. However, I do also believe in the redistribution of life energy. After all, according to the laws of physics, energy cannot be destroyed, so it must go somewhere. You can think of a person as a battery if you want to, not that I'm saying I do, and that they're given a certain amount of energy from the time of their birth until they run out of energy and thus, die. However, I believe that when a person dies, that energy is redistributed among the universe, given to something new. It could be a star, another person, or an insect. But I believe that it does pass onto something new, a reincarnation of your life energy. I also grew up in a very Buddhist country and learned about it from an early age, and it appeals to me personally, so I would be more apt to accept Buddhist beliefs over any other religion. I've done my time in Christianity, but the Buddhist belief of reincarnation is my personal favourite.
Ive heard hell being describe as sitting in a unbearable heat in a circle with other people...a pot of water is in the middle and a very long handled ladle is there...they want to quench there thirst but it is impossible to bring the ladle to their mouths becuause of its long handle and the persons are too busy trying this they do not see that they can give the other drink in turns....

I honestly have no idea what Hell would be like.
Maybe the "suffering" is not being able to reach Heaven. Maybe it's eternal ignorance. Maybe it's forever wandering the Earth (ghosts?)
I am strong independent athiest who don't need no God.

Hey rutab, do all cows go to Heaven? They DO, RIGHT??!
Also, I find the concept of Hell and "eternal suffering" a bit repulsive even if it's saved for only "heinous" people, because if there's one generalization I feel comfortable making it's that they are all extremely troubled or just don't appreciate the concept of morality, and it's not like the people they've hurt will be watching them as they're punished in Hell. I guess I can say this because my cats haven't been taken away from me and tortured, and no one I know was a victim of Germany, so I just haven't experienced that level of deep and justified loathing that would cause me to think someone deserves that, yet -- but eternity is by definition an immeasurably long concept of time. Punishment? Sure, I could buy that for people who intentionally hurt that many other living beings on such a permanent and visceral level, but eternal punishment...?
Sorry, I type as I think. I don't really expect to be surprised by your answer, but I'd still be glad if you felt like responding lol
