So ethan couch, also known as the affluenza teen was just detained in mexico.

I know he's an idiot, I know he deserves to go to jail, but I cant stand the visceral reaction Im seeing to him on reddit and elsewhere. like people seem to be personally offended by him simply existing.

I'm not trying to make excuses for his actions, but he is very much a product of his environment, as we all are. And unfortunately for him he was raised by idiotic parents that didn't put any boundaries on him or allow him to learn that his actions have consequences.

I find it ironic that people like those in black lives matter are so willing to defend black people because they are a product of their environment, but shun ethan hunt because he's wealthy. quite plainly, it's hypocritical

deterrence?
reformation?
punishment?
separation from society?

the judge looked at the case and clearly weighed some points more importantly than others. probably because the kid was 16 and committed manslaughter. the judge thought he could put the kid on a different path than he was and save his life.

why does the justice system need to work that if one life gets taken, we have to take another life to even it out.

clearly the judge was wrong and the kid was past saving, but I think it was worth the shot

i've seen you do this a number of times on this website for less infractions, i can't fathom why you would resent people for doing it to someone who has committed a crime and ostensibly suffered no punishment for it

there's a huge heroin epidemic in the northeast right now. And law makers are starting to realize you cant treat addicts like criminals anymore.

And black people have the audacity to complain that it's only after white people start running into similar problems, that law makers start making exceptions.

like shut up. we're getting the law right now. Why are you trying to force us to take a step backwards just to keep things "fair"
