Did he die for your sins, or was he a common schizophrenic?

as much as i like the idea that there's some big overarching purpose, it's never been something i've been able to fully buy myself into. i am crippled with jaded skepticism.

I think I adhere to the basic point of it, which is accepting Jesus Christ.

Without Christianity having ever existed, the holocaust and the Blitzkreig offensive probably never would have happened. That was less than a century ago, a historical blink of the eye.
Millions died because of Christianity less than a century ago
you can call yourself whatever you want. whether the church will accept you as a christian if you renounce the bible is a different story, but i think christianity is more about believing in jesus than believing in the bible.
Its like saying "Im a Christian, but I dont believe in anything that a Christian is supposed to believe/trust." Then you're basically creating a whole new religion.
whether or not they were written to be open to interpretation or not, they were still written during a vastly different time. a lot of religious texts tend to be very symbolic though, specifically hindu and buddhist texts, so i don't see why the bible would be any different.
I look at the bible as more of a piece of art, though that might be a frowned upon conception of it. It is fallen man.
You dont really sound like a Christian, more like an Agnostic
Yeah, well I'm a Christian. Like I said, it's more personal for me than secondhand through man-at-the-time's writing on it.
Can you still call yourself a Christian if you dont believe in the Bible?

Who cares. Everyone needs to believe in something.

I might be lame, but Jesus was a common schizophrenic and would likely end up in an institution in modern society
