as much as i like the idea that there's some big overarching purpose, it's never been something i've been able to fully buy myself into. i am crippled with jaded skepticism.

Without Christianity having ever existed, the holocaust and the Blitzkreig offensive probably never would have happened. That was less than a century ago, a historical blink of the eye.
Millions died because of Christianity less than a century ago
you can call yourself whatever you want. whether the church will accept you as a christian if you renounce the bible is a different story, but i think christianity is more about believing in jesus than believing in the bible.
Its like saying "Im a Christian, but I dont believe in anything that a Christian is supposed to believe/trust." Then you're basically creating a whole new religion.
whether or not they were written to be open to interpretation or not, they were still written during a vastly different time. a lot of religious texts tend to be very symbolic though, specifically hindu and buddhist texts, so i don't see why the bible would be any different.
I look at the bible as more of a piece of art, though that might be a frowned upon conception of it. It is fallen man.

Yeah, well I'm a Christian. Like I said, it's more personal for me than secondhand through man-at-the-time's writing on it.
