I fixed it! I realized that the problem WAS NOT WINDOWS 10. I had my front and back panel set to different things. One was set to speaker and the other was set to headphone. I'm now reinstalling windows 10

had to downgrade because 10 made my cursor and window focus flicker repeatedly and preview panes and context menus closed instantly so i couldn't do much of anything
it also looked very bad. a 1 pixel line for open windows in the taskbar? if they simplify their design any further the native ui will just be invisible
Yes, windows 10 is actually better than 8.1 IMO, and no I do think it's a vast improvement from the disastrous 8 and 8.1. Interface feels much faster, smoother, and definitely a lot more gorgeous. I hated win 8 the day I installed it, but I am in love with win 10. Although I was surprised to find that you cannot open multiple instances of a program/app on separate desktops (i.e., you must drag Microsoft edge to the desktop that you want to view it on). The tiles thing still isn't very intuitive, but still feels much better than they sued to be.

windows 8 isn't bad if you upgrade to 8.1. pretty much all you have to do is clean apps off the start screen, which shouldn't take more than 2 minutes.
You don't even have to boot into the metro ui so you can avoid those apps altogether without having to remove them. Just simply google 'boot to desktop instead of metro ui on windows 8' follow the instructions and there you go. easy. xD

workspaces are dope, but all the settings and apps are so unpolished
I'm glad Windows finally got around to that feature. I just wish I could customize the keybindings that trigger it instead of having to use windowskey+tab or the stupid mouse.
with the patch it just looks like windows 8... which is fine by me

Are there really still people who have "important files" that aren't also backed up in cloud storage, whether it be Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Github, etc? The only inconvenience I could see Windows 10 causing with data loss is having to take the time to re-download any apps or games you lose.
