Again, if things stay exactly how they are currently, the only way I can see stacked competitive games ever happening again is to make a custom lobby and individually recruit a few dozen people to compete there.
ScubaSteve, obviously you can fix it whether you allow only few setups in red hearts. You don't blacklist setups, you just allow them like you'd do in competitive but these setups would be forever such as jan 2.0, VDLI etc. There will be about 20-30 setups that could be played in red hearts and nothing else. So people who want to have many points would be forced to play these setups.

i learned how to play mafia through playing competitive games with good players and reading the wiki. now the wiki is gone and stacked competitive games are a rarity.
but not a lot of people are actually interested in learning how to play mafia, either. they're more than content to just play their 10 daily fancy pants games. i'd love for the competition to go back to the glory days, and to be able to play a variety of different setups and be able to test new setups. but it's not gonna happen. it's just the way it is and everyone else who feels the same way as me just has to deal with it.
It depends on what you want red hearts to be. People can play this in unranked and still learn in unranked, the only thing wrong here is these setups will be messy because nobody will give a F about vios in there. If you do want to see red hearts as hard training to comp then it's fine...

Blacklisting one setup just leads to another setup being played. It never improves it.

If you guys remember, we said the same thing about Reverse Mafia and Classic Mafia when they were being flooded. The average player's always going to resort to playing those types of setups and there's really nothing I can think of that can fix it.

if u are being serious that's too drastic, i think fancy pants and classic mafia actually teach people something. maybe not a lot but it does teach some of the basics.

without posting the link in the forums and hoping someone else wants to play, no idea. i think fancy pants is a cancer that should've been dealt with a long time ago, but now it's too late to do anything about it.
Make them unranked that's the only one. Red Hearts have to be a training to competitive. FP is a fun setup so it doesn't really train, it gives achievements, it gives basic mechanics but that's all.
If we do that Jan 2.0 will be the new Fancy Pants in Red hearts. And people will start complaining about this setup.

Easy solution, really. Blacklist Fancypants from red hearts. Make it unranked only.
You implied I had a narrow view when selecting. You were not here when I did the majority of my selecting, therefore your view of the job I did in that regard is ignorant in my eyes. i tried making red heart tables in the past, but its too difficult to get anything to fill thats not fancy pants. it would be nice if there was a decent way to test new setups other than beg the latest trophy winner to make it competitive.
