You weren't town blatantly trying to get lynched because lynching obvious scum is too difficult. You also would throw your chance to beat the ml away which stacks the game in favor of town.

"only lynch scum" is like fighting game logic of "don't get hit". ironically both statements are true, you should basically go for that.
