at one point i ended up using an online keyboard (lame ik) to learn piano because the only other time i had access to a piano/keyboard was in music class or at my friends house ~__~
that's how I felt with drums and guitar. it's really hard to find motivation to keep on practicing, especially when you've been playing for years and have peaked in talent

i bought a keyboard one time bored but a few days later my buddy came into my house and was like 'whoa, i haven't had a keyboard in years' and we were listening to some electro or something funky anyway and he just started playing along with it like that so i gave him the keyboard lol
nah drinking was just more oblivion for me tbh. nothing like a party and creating a few nice memories for urself every once in a while tho

I know you have hobbies with listening to music and finding out more about it, though I'm not sure if you play an instrument? Taking up the piano was life-changing for me. It's one of the greatest ways for me to find happiness in solitude.

Also, Retti, if your life is kinda squandered right now then organising some kind of routine to stick to will help you so much.

Tbh some things were misconstrued for me. There's a difference between thinking positively and focusing on positives. I agree with you.

there's thinking about improving your life and thinking negatively. two different things that should never be put together. you're more likely to procrastinate about changing or doing something if you're thinking negatively.
this is correct. some things are going to become holes of despair in ur life and u just have to keep urself out of them. that doesn't mean u can't work to cover over the hole.
If you can leave the house, just walk around outside, or sit around outside, if you don't have the energy for that, give someone a call, talking out loud helps things way more than anything else for a short term solution

Bear in mind that I struggled from depression even with many positives in my life. I had to pop some pretty big balloons to get back on track.

Well when there aren't many positives, but many negatives, how can you focus on the positives? Give him some realistic advice.
except by focusing on what's negative in his life it's just going to continue to make him feel worse. i understand depression is very hard to overcome and it's very difficult not to focus on what's gone wrong but in order to get where he wants, he needs to.
Focusing the negative and how you can rectify those issues can prove to be longitudinally more beneficial for a person.

u know what u should do retti, and this is honestly good advice, is go to the gym. it's helped me so much anyway. it's just a lifestyle of building urself, it slowly builds in u a whole new outlook, and has pretty much instant returns for u to live on. i mean u have no idea how self-destructive i used to be, and now it's tending more and more towards the complete opposite. every young man should do psychical fitness tbqh.
