Just saw the Theory of Everything yesterday and loved it. This is what I agree most with, though The writing and direction at parts were a little sloppy, but certain scenes more than made up for it. The performances were stellar all the way through though, which is why I really enjoyed watching this one.
i think i'm actually spot on. erections, running naked through town, blowing your brains out - what people want. also sleazy relationships with young girls. stop doing stuff besides this, nobody cares. why is this a good movie? it's because people are dumb mostly and satisfying its terms in being dumb lol. , maybe it was a good movie, even though I hated watching it.

+ erections. i guess the movie's response justified it as a movie

birdman actually really sucked. whole point of movie: no point trying to make a difference, because nobody matters. instead pretend ur a superhero lel. wow. super edgy. great movie. i really have no idea why this movie is getting the response that it is. probably because of edward norton and that 'the stage is the only place i can tell the truth' line (+ his erection).
I can go more into detail about how I liked what the movie had to say about the whole "artist's dilemma" thing, but I'm admittedly afraid of sounding like a douchebag.
i feel like people say they like birdman so they can feel all superior and knowledgeable.
"oh, you like action and fantasy films? how droll."
This is the last post I read because everything else is about Theory of Everything and I really don't want it spoiled.
I really don't think this is why people got into the movie, or at least it isn't why I got into it. I thought the directing and the acting were stellar. Dunno, I was hooked for most of it (except for a little in the middle, before the scene where he walks out in his boxers).
The main character was a real PoS, which it was refreshing when compared to most other artsy movies that explore the inner beautiful whatever of the whoever. It felt very realistic, yet had this pretty cool vibe where things came off well-analyzed and just clean. The angles were interesting, and again the acting was stellar.
I also liked how they didn't feel the need to resolve every character's every little problem by the end of the movie.
Oh no, I definitely understand how much she went through. We were discussing on whether the movie portrayed it as harsh/as detailed as they should have.
oh right. derp. in that case, yeah. it did a poor job of it. definitely favoured the detail on stephen in that case. made her out to be a damp cloth.
Oh no, I definitely understand how much she went through. (Okay I don't but you know--a freaking TON.) We were discussing on whether the movie portrayed it as harsh/as detailed as they should have.
"omg poor woman, you need someone to vacuum for you. Rich cambridge girls can't vacuum wth"
given that stephen was even more dependent on her than the children, you can understand how she might feel. she's essentially a single parent but worse. the only blessing is the money that stephen brings in, but he's unwilling to accept the help from outside.
Yeah dude they dropped the ball with developing her and going into her like I don't even know how she finally ended up getting her PhD in medieval studies in Spanish etcetcetc
