Code geass is another epic series. Sword art online is as well. (Quit after the first arc unless you're intending to watch the full second season, second half of first season is slogging material.) Log horizon is really good. FMA: brotherhood is also amazing.

nashi i'm going to send u a message with a list of animes u would like to start u off!!! ^_^
Except it wasn't. I can understand how someone could say that the plot was a bit weak but that was really the only gripe I had. The animation was some of the best i've ever seen and the soundtrack went so well with the film.
*spoiler* tbf I knew it wasn't going to work out beforehand bc of youtube comments. :{ though I had to message Rada in the middle of it to make sure that he didn't fall in love with the surfer girl because I was having no part of that );
I related so much to his feelings though, esp. in the beginning. :( yeah the ending sucked, but...I'd rather him and her not be together if she lacked the patience for him.
It wasn't awful. I mean, if you don't relate to it -at all- I think you'll find it awful. I related to it a bunch and thought it was really good. Also the music score behind it is beautiful. :P
FLCL, 6 episode miniseries, follows the plot of a bored and melancholy kid who gets drawn into a weird series of events after a woman runs him over on her Vespa
Eureka 7, big series, orphan who loves to surf (but its in the sky because its future stuff) suddenly gets his house destroyed by a cute girl in a giant robot, finds out she's part of a team of celebrity surfers/rebels who he idolises. they happen to have known his father, so he joins with them. its like evangelion but less edgy and slightly less crying
