Moderation Issues

I've been trying to keep my mouth shut for quite a while, but I've decided to finally make this thread because there are a lot of things that need to be addressed. No one is coming out with it when several people have complained about this, so I've decided to be the sacrificial lamb and post on behalf of the entire community. And if I lose any chance of being a moderator and fixing up the site, so be it. I'm more concerned that we have respectable people leading EM.

Reasons the mod team is unprofessional:

Jericho, a previously banned user, is modded. He reported Caroline for OGI to spite her for their previous tension, without addressing the guy who actually GRS'd.

Vancy / Rutab used modding powers to find my secret alt, which would have been fine, but one of them then unexusably told many non-mods I especially did not trust that I was Flux. This is the only conclusion I can come to.

Kino account shared with a banned user. This is unexusable in any case. Not only should she be punished, but she should definitely not be moderating the site.

I have no personal issue with any of the mods, but it truly does seem that it's a bit of a circlejerk. If I'm not mistaken, most of the moderators are close or at least have a mutual connection. This is a huge problem and I think others should be given a chance to mod, since most of them are not serious about the well-being of the site.

Moderators are supposed to be our system of control. It's supposed to be professional work. This is anything but. If you are not going to do what's good for the community, please don't become a moderator.

I'm not going to say that I completely think that the mods are circlejerking and only modding friends etc, but I do knowthat there's a much larger chance to be modded if you already know someone on the staff, which basically is what contributes to this whole circlejerk deal. And even though I know a few of the mods aren't close to many of the other mods, there definitely has to be a sense that the mods have to stick together in order to avoid being obliterated by a userbase who criticizes their every move.

Now, in terms of this whole game being reported drama thing, none of it really should have happened in the first place, because really it's one game that the only people who really should give any amount of craps about are the players who played in the referenced game and the moderators handling the report. Everyone else should steer clear because their opinions and or comments typically are not really doing much other than inciting more drama and anger within people. And while I know that some people get off to drama and controversy and suspicious stuff like there has been in this topic and others, it doesn't do a lot for the community as a whole.

As for Apples alt being outed, while that sucks for her, if she really didn't want people knowing it probably would have been a wise choice for her to let a mod that she trusted know ahead of time to just tell other mods something along the lines of "hey, the main of Flux doesn't want people knowing who they are, don't tell people."

Demod kino. I like kino but there have been too many glaring mistakes in her time as a mod to be worth keeping her around in my opinion.

I think that covers everything. I'm prepared to have a big hole or flaw found in my post that is going to get torn apart, because that happens.

I consider empires analysis mostly correct but only in the sense that the same can be said about 90% of threads in epicmafia.

Also I disagree, Connor can be actually meaner now, it's just directed at a smaller different group of people than before

Man, I didn't read this thread, but from my understanding, Vancy has been the only one that can see a players alt and main accounts. Vancy himself told me this. I also exchanged private messages with Vancy about keeping my alt a secret and how I had his word that he wouldn't let it get out, and the next day I see retti posting it on the forums which I'm sure he heard from slow, then slow outting it in a pastebin. Like.. does Vancy have some type of alt issues or what?

Well, expecting negative consequences and having self importance are pretty different and I think that the post leans towards the former.

I edited my wording to say "self affirming" shortly after making that post because it better conveys what I mean. She's expecting backlash but she isn't seeing herself as an egotistical, amazing martyr. I think you were (rudely) reading way too far into it.

I was questioning the intent of the thread as an afterthought to the issues brought up in it-I tackled that first. Intent is also important.

I think the tone of her post is indicating that she thinks that a lot of people think what she thinks, but they are afraid to say it publicly in fear of backlash or being shunned or something along those lines. She is preparing for backlash and explaining why she made the post, which really isn't self affirming or egotistical.

No, it means that she expected to get backlash for calling out certain things, which considering the cut throat nature of epicmafia really isn't a difficult thing to imagine. This doesn't mean that she is self deluded/attention seeking or acting under a martyr complex.
