the crux of his argument is that all mods are replaceable and none of them really matter. i wasn't trying to debate that, i was just pointing out the really obvious frustration in his post. regardless, whether or not mods are replaceable shouldn't matter. that's no reason to treat them like garbage
How about you take floor's points, and make a valid counter argument. Is this the only way you know how to come back at someone who is making good points against your friend?
But let's be real here, people. You are neglecting the key points.
Mods are hated because they hold far too much power in what amounts to very judgmental decisions on a site that's -mostly- about enjoying a party game.
Players are disliked by mods because a lot of them are intentionally abusing that atmosphere to either mess around or actually skew things in their favor to compete.
The problem, in short, is not the mods or the playerbase. It's the report system that the mods operate through.
The report system needs to be completely revamped to reflect the fact that we are losing more players than we are gaining, and overall the site is slowly losing its population.
Permanently banning (or any time over a month-long ban, except for cheating) players is not a good way of sustaining a small community. Forum bans are a separate issue, mind you. Those can be leveraged easily, and with good reason. The forum is not the center of the site.
To be clear, there shouldn't be a giant rule book you have to follow to play EM. Certain rules need to be there, yes, but clear intent to disrupt the game is easy to see and easy to identify.
The process of reporting should require a minimum of 3 individuals in the game to report the offending player. Done and done, that squarely eliminates a solid majority of the inconsequential reports being sent out currently.
It also validates the idea of reporting being only done for serious offenses, and it reflects a consensus of players on behalf of that in-game judgment.
Mods should then be handling reports on a 2-person per report basis, so a fairly more impartial conclusion is reached.
TL;DR The report system is the true problem here, not the mods or the playerbase. It has been reworked over time, but it still fails to fully satisfy the needs of the site.
This is a volunteer position, I should not have to deal with users who do not understand the variety of things that I have done and provided for the mod team constantly asking for my head.
u r dum. It's a people persons job that you volunteered to do FOR FREE. How the fcuk are you complaining about conditions of a job that were already known beforehand.
As it is now, I can't forsee any mod staying longer than half a year with the current userbase.
Who cares, you're all replaceable workers with no special talent. Anyone that can read and has a modest morality can replace you.
If you think I was a bad mod, you have no understanding of what I did for this site and how much I gave to it.
You did some mod work so you had a huge impact on the site? There are tons of people that have done way more for this site than you and were never mods. You aren't special.
TL;DR: Some guy cries about his feelings hurt from a volunteer online moderating position.

come to sandbox we treat mods like celebrities B)
does that treatment include mod alumni such as myself?
