PC, becouse if there is a scarth on your mac screen you have to buy a new screen attached to a new MAC.

I'm still not sure about the hype, but not having to worry about viruses or anything to slow your computer down seems like a nice deal.

The mac office software is fine, it's "microsoft" office after all which i find funny.

what about battery life? mac seems to have a much longer lasting battery (my experience has always been approx. 2-3 hours for PC laptops)

it depends what you do on the thing. macs are bound to last longer than PCs because they're POO and can't run anything that drains your battery.

This is generally impossible because the two are made for completely different things. I mean if you're /just/ looking for long life and/or battery time then sure you're better off with a mac.

Besides that it can't really compete with PCs, I'm guessing you're gonna be using it for studies mainly so I'd recommend one of the Vaios; lightweight and packing a punch. Alternatively getting a custom one might slightly increase your battery lifetime depending on what you focus on.

Linux would also help.

depends, macs do have better batteries though in general. I always plug in my laptop anyway so it was never much of a concern for me.
