Should claiming scum and/or outing your partner ever be tolerated, even as a WIFOM "tactic", or should it be outlawed completely no matter the circumstance?
"Gamethrowing" is in quotation marks because it cannot be guaranteed to be truly gamethrowing, but would be treated as such.
what i don't like about your arguments in all threads is that you like to throw around anything that will stick. clearly you didn't even read this post that directly states that i am in the camp of disallowing both true and false outings
Also if you say y is mafia when they're town should not be disallowed then you're arguing inconsistently, because the entire basis of the argument is "pretending to GT should be a violation".
But you can't just assume that its done with the intention of hurting your team. You have to take it by a case to case basis. If someone legitimately thinks outting their partners as WIFOM is a good idea, it isn't game-throwing.
Is bussing game-throwing despite being a sub-optimal strategy and directly undermining your teammates?
btw pretending to slip or say something mafia would naturally say to their confirmed partners while still trying to win to make town think something is acceptable imo... it's just when ur pretending to help town or actually helping town. so a hint town thinks is a mistake u made is ok. a hint that town knows is 100% wifom is ok. a hint that town thinks is genuinely trying to give away mafia is not ok.
Stop thinking so narrowly. You're not actually giving them a hint, you don't even want to make them think you gave them a hint. The purpose is to make the game about a question of in which from the hint would be given. You're saying "this is someone that could be my partner" but being more assertive, and making them wonder of whether you would mention the correct person or not
not really. the basis of making it a form of "gamethrowing" would be to assume under all circumstances that undertaking these actions are done with the intent to hurt your team, as no one with intent to help the team would ever undertake such actions

in 2.0 meta that might be true but the current playerbase is very black and white and would look at it differently
it seems like more of a headache than what it's worth
i dont think a blanket ban is the right solution and i'll just continue to handle it as a case-by-case scenario
i'd say no just because it's not as severe as outing your partner as wifom, but it definitely isn't a cool thing to do

Well it can't be game-throwing. That would mean changing the entire basis of the rule. If you don't intend to throw a game you can't get a game-throwing violation, it is as simple as that.
there is a very good reason to blanket ban scumclaiming and partner "outing" - both true and false.

i guarantee you that if i were to play a forum game right now and out my partners as i was being lynched regardless of context that i'd be instantly modkilled
