1) He'd always do the right thing even if it caused him a political headache because he's super anal about things being done correctly.
2) He's pretty smart so a lot of the time it comes easy to him.
3) He likes the site and the community. He actually likes this community. He actually LIKES this community...
4) He's willing to take up the job, and not just as a "oh wouldn't it be fun if I were admin" sort of deal.. he knows what it entails and he's ready and eager cos he's weird.
Hope this helps Lucid. Try not to let any of the trash talking PMs get to you this time.
Oh yeah of course. I'm just saying it doesn't necessarily mean that. I know some mods have consistently lower report counts could mean they're lazy, I'm just saying that it isn't always so black and white all the time.
Slow always has a lower report count for example, but he does cheating too and is around a lot to weigh in on other issues or reports we discuss. Saying he is lazy would be grossly inaccurate.
Low report count could be an indicator of laziness, but that isn't always the case.
I'd rather a mod do less reports and get them all right than rush through a bunch and have a bunch of appeals too. Quality is most important in moderation. There's a certain threshold of activity I liked to see, but when reports are so low in open all the time I don't hound people as much.
im not entirely sure about that. it makes sense for report counts to dip occasionally because some mods may be putting in more/less work depending on how much free time they have, but I think consistently low report counts are due to laziness/not enough time more than anything. even if the amount of reports is low, there are always at least a few open reports to do, and if there aren't any open at a given moment, there will be in a little bit. if you're a mod and there's never a single report open for you to handle, you're either the unluckiest person alive or you're probably making an excuse, imo at least
on that note, I don't think it's fair to say that a mod that does 10 reports a day puts in the same amount of effort as a mod that does 2 reports a day, especially over a large amount of time
I definitely have to give you props with the interview thing though, I think all of the mods that came out of it are good
Can't quote because I'm on mobile, but I tried poaching people who weren't comp players a lot - almost everyone I've modded who had no mod experience isn't really a comp player. I asked a few sandbox and red heart main players and most of them didn't want it because they see how they get treated by the community.
I was big on interviewing so I didn't have to just mod people I knew or just people who had experience. Some interviews went well and other times they didn't. Considering I got kino, hima, slow, Moocow, jasper and Katie from interviewing I'd say overall it was a good idea.
A lot of people just don't want to do it, some people want to and don't know the rules well enough to be effective, and other people just want to mod so they can push for their vision of the site onto everyone.
Admin is more about being a team player and leader. As far as low report counts go, the mod team is also stacked right now so there isn't as much to go around, plus I haven't seen reports climb past 30 in at least a month. If people are around and contributing on decisions or doing other duties in place of reports while reports open are low, they're still being helpful. Low reports doesn't necessarily mean lazy.
kino still hasnt passed me for most reports done :D
wow i was busy trying to do you a solid but now i'm not even going to bother finishing it..... i don't deserve to be dragged like this...........................
