The Future Of EM

almost 11 years

EM sure has fallen these past few years, things aren't the same as they were before; the player base has dropped, winning a trophy doesn't have the same hype, the forums aren't as lively, and many former active players are now inactive...

If this continues, EM could be dead within the next decade (5-10 years) or sooner, who knows. Yes, new players will come around and old players will continue to leave but it seems like we are still seeing a downward trend on the activity level of the community instead of an upward trend.

Most of EM's general population is between the ages of 13-18 so with the school season starting, Epicmafia's community will be hit hard and things will start to get worse. We have a cold winter stirring up ahead of us fellow mafioso's and it doesn't look like things are gonna get any better.

Discuss what caused EM to go downhill and what we as a community can to do to change, reform, and help EM flourish again like in the good old days.

With your brain power, we can heal the community together, one step at a time.

betrayal, you are dumb. comp lobby players are not dead. they just dont enjoy the current situation so they dont feel like coming here. if comp lobby is back, they will find themselves home again

you made a generalized statement that implied preventing it from dying isn't the same thing as improving the site. technically, by the population of users increasing, it is therefore improving the site's stability. I see what you mean if you meant the sometimes harsh community, glitches, minor improvements lucid can make etc. but what you gave generally, in my opinion, would benefit the site greatly.

more users = more tokens bought.
more tokens bought = the more lucid can improve the site

I agree with apple and i also think that mods should set an example for EM by referring more members to this site. that should also be apart of the moderators duty, to get others to join the website and have a monthly quota to fulfill for referrals

haha this was stupid. not everyone wants their friends to know their cyber persona, i definitely dont.

i dont see why u wouldnt want ur IRL friends to be ur friend on Epicmafia, they are ur friend right?

Lucid shouldn't be bothered to make a mobile app if he already has to pay for this website out of pocket
deletedalmost 11 years
hm true. good point jupiter

personally i think a mobile app would benefit the population a loooottt, but like i p much understand why he wouldnt. or he should at least make a mobile version for playing on a phone because dang, that is ANNOYING!

Making backup plans for the site dying is an incredibly pessimistic outlook on a not-so-bad situation. Betrayal is pretty much assuming that there's something wrong with the site based off of nothing, and it's not like he has statistics on there being a decline in users. If we actively try to improve for the sake of improvement, maybe we'll get more players as opposed to figuring out ways to get them to come to us.

Just my two cents. :-)

Yes maybe you're right and the site isn't in a terrible state right now but if we ignore it, eventually it will be, not saying this will happen overnight but over years, it definitely can.

mods dont understand that it is now much easier for banned users to ruin the competition. like way easier. now we wont know who are real noobs and who are banned users.

That is probably true. Back in the day, you could play with the same people but nowadays, there's no way to weed out the randoms.

I think its this kind of attitude that turns people off of the site. I mean why come here and stay when everyone will just ruthlessly berate you until you leave? The EM community has no one to blame but themselves.

more users =/= more tokens bought

im not saying all users would buy tokens. but if it increases enough, yeah, the average of tokens bought would definitely go up.

So what are you waiting ? Christmas ?

That's actually a smart idea. Lucid should award 10 or 20 tokens to everyoone who plays 10 or 20 games on christmas. that will help increase activity levels over the harsh winter coming up, +k AwesomeFace

Instead of thinking of ideas to prevent the site from dying when it currently isn't, you should try thinking of ideas to improve it.

I already am improving it. My presence on this site alone improves it by 0.01%. By being an active member of the community, I am making a positive difference, u see?

isn't preventing it from dying the same thing as technically improving it...?

I don't think you realize how impressive it is for a website to last 10-15 years. :^)

no i realize that it is truly impressive but i hope it can last another 10-15 years. websites like facebook won't be as active 10-20 years from now, look what happened to myspace. lets just make sure it dont happen to EM
